I think it's as much a reflection on the different states as it is the different codes. NSW has always been a "blueing" state as far as i'm concerned. I know that's a very broad generalisation but fighting and pub punch ups have always just been a part of NSW male culture I think, particularly the further into the suburbs you go.

It's that degenrative NSW conviction gene as D_One used to tell some Sydneysiders. Not sure how he didn't get his head smashed in.

I know what you are saying finny. Saw it plenty of times over the years I lived in Sydney. people are more aggressive as it can be a harsh city/state/place, they drink harder, play harder than in SA and its no fluke that the bash and crash games of League and union became the most popular sports.

I don't think it's a particularly malevolent sort of brawling culture as weird as that sounds, I think it's just the way they've always "sorted stuff out". I had an old friend in Sydney who had two younger brothers who were always going out in the city/Kings Cross on weekends and getting into fights. To them it was nothing. They were really smiley, funny guys to talk to when they weren't on the piss, they just enjoyed a bit of how-to-do every now and then. Sometimes they'd go out and not get in any fights so they'd fight each other.

Lewis was a master at milking these situations. Queensland was down in this game and knowing what an emotional and hot headed person and player Geyer was, Wally was really getting into him, stirring him and trying to get a reaction from Geyer. It worked, Geyer completely lost the plot, and Lewis turned the emotion in Queensland's favour. They were actually pretty good friends off the field.

Geyer reminded me of Dave Granger.

I missed all the Test Match posts!

I still have all the pieces, slidey batsman and spongey outfield. Some of the velcro is missing from the boundary corners but it does the job.

Oh and my bowler is busted so you can't flick the arm for the bowling action, but you can still roll it down.

The mat isn't perfectly flat but being able to read the bumps is home ground advantage as far as I'm concerned.

Geyer has talked about how he idolised Wally before that event, took him a bit of time to get over it, but talks glowingly how Wally sucked him. yeah not long after that they played together for Australia.

Spotify is my way of avoiding needing to spend endless hours downloading or buying music in one of those things....shops I believe they call them.

Now I spend endless hours searching for and playing songs i have not heard for many years. Fun for all the family!

Soundcloud is pretty good. I originally stumbled across it when I was trying to find some information/links to an Adelaide band from the early-80's via Google. There I was re-directed to Soundcloud where some guy had uploaded their entire 5-MMM demo tape, as well as a live through the PA recording of Screaming Believers at the Union Hotel circa 1983 or thereabouts. You find all sorts of stuff on there. Some just available for streaming, other stuff for free download. Depends on the content and the person sharing it I suppose. You might like it.

I downloaded about 15,000 songs via Soulseek when I first got broadband Internet in the early to mid-2000's. That site was amazing. They're all trapped on one laptop that completely crashed a few years ago. Anyone know if they can be retrieved?

EDIT: That or take it to a PC shop. You would pretty much have to plug the HDD into another computer, which isn't all that difficult IIRC.
