I dont know why, but I giggle during BT's commentary.

Drew Morphett drove me insane.

Morphett, Sandy Roberts and Peter Landy all pretty had no idea about what they were commentating on.

Morphett was like an excited schoolboy who was in awe of the players he was commentating on.

Roberts was annoying with his stupid upward inflexion for no reason.

Landy just didn't have much idea, although was probably a reasonable caller.

Still, I'd prefer all 3 to listening to Eddie commentate today.

Looking back, perhaps it wasn't so bad having those 3 blokes commentate, despite no actual sporting/footy playing experience. This is because with so many ex players today, so many of them are so poor (Taylor, Shaw, Campbell etc etc).

Who was calling the GWS v Bulldogs game? They didn't even know the names of the players, resorting to 'GWS kick it forward' and 'Bulldogs mark in defence'. Half the GWS players were apparently Tom Scully as he kicked it to himself and was tackled maybe by Murphy.

I remember a game this year when BT was complimenting the form of the goal umpire, and mentioned him by name, saying that we don't give the goal umpires enough credit.

Everyone started ripping into him, and rightly so, asking if we should know the names of the ballboys because 'they don't get enough credit' - and making BT look like the biggest ****ing tosser, all live on national television. He was quiet for about five minutes after that. Best television I've seen this year.

Yesterday he was cursing the commercialism of the afl for allowing the umpires to wear light blue, remonstrating that it was pathetic for sponsorship reasons etc. because it clashes.

It was for charity.
