Chopper just died.

I am actually upset by this. Though he caused a lot of pain in his life (thankfully only to bad people), he also did all he could to make up for it. A very private and tortured soul in the end, getting by selling paintings he made, and his book. All in an effort to make money for his children that he realised were his life.

An iconic Australian figure like it or not, and no doubt a release from his very troubled life.

I'm fairly ambivalent towards all these "crime" figures I guess. It's mostly the middle class, privileged males who romanticise and glorify the "lifestyle" while always maintaining a safe distance that kinda bug me.

I have failed to understand the middle class/working class types or people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in many ways.

I mean if you are poor why would you drink, smoke, get covered in tatts and drive V8 cars? Aren't they all expensive wastes of your limited financial resources?

Maybe they are status symbols in that world? Like knowing a bloke that sells $15 J bags gives you a link to the criminal underworld?

I don't know or understand poor people.

I do know they smell bad though.
