John Safran is on Julia Zemiro's Home Delivery. He is one crazy funny outrageous bastard.

A couple of weeks ago I heard him on Richard Fidler's Conversations (hour) on ABC radio. He was promoting his new book. You can listen to the whole interview at

As you would expect there is a bizarre twist in the story, which you will find out of you listen or read the book.

For his most recent ABC TV series, John Safran's Race Relations, John went to Mississippi to pull a prank on a white supremacist called Richard Barrett.

The prank was very successful - but the nature of it meant John was unable to put it to air.
One year later he discovered that Barrett had been murdered, by a young black man.
There was so much of the case that didn't seem to make sense to John, so he returned to Mississippi to cover the trial of the killer.

Murder in Mississippi is published by Penguin.
