Funny thing Eddie Dingle, the other day when you posted about Trout Mask Replica, it made me think of other, intentionally unlistenable albums which led me to Metal Machine Music on YouTube.

As good as a song writer as he was, Reed's true genius was that he got a record company to pay for that to be produced and promoted.

Spot on Bomber.

People still try to tell me Metal Machine Music is a great album. I've stopped even discussing it as people that listen to that and find something in it are on a different astral plane to me.

Trout Mask Replica is mostly listenable and has some exceptional moments amongst the other "music".

Lou Reed must have chuckled right up until Sunday morning that he got paid for that.

And the colored girls go
Doo do doo, doo do doo, doo do doo

That's why Paul Kelly called his band the Coloured Girls. He was a big Lou Reed fan. Great irony that when he finally was getting airplay in the USA, he had to change their name, as it was perceived to be a racist thing, so the band name was changed to The Messengers.

It's amazing to hear how many singer songwriters like Paul Kelly said that Reed was a big inspiration for them.

Sounds like his liver transplant of 6 months ago didn't go well.

Thing is I really do love Metallica.

But they should never have done St Anger, never ever have done Death Magnetic, and let's not even talk about Lulu. They shouldn't have caved to the pressure of fanboys and neckbeards and kept going with the Load era style of music which is my personal favourite Metallica album. When they tried to force the hard arsed fast paced head banging thrash metal back, it just didn't work and sounded forced and some good riffs were being ruined by a band going through the motions.

I actually like St. Anger of all the Metallica albums. But I'm a heretic in more ways then this.

Out of idle curiosity I called up some Ween on YouTube, because I'd never encountered them before I came to this forum. Now I have to clean the wax out of my ears.

Boognish condemns you to mediocre music listening as your penance.
