St Anger was a demonstration of how not to make your snare sound.

Death Magnetic, while it has some decent stuff, is also a very ordinary recording.

I am an audio snob.... For the most part, shit recording = shit album.

Yes I have to agree regarding the St Anger snare... dat snare

I like a lot of Van Halen stuff, which is very annoying because they were still sounding like a late 60's band well in to the 1980's when a lot of bands production values were becoming extremely crisp and refined. You had this ridiculous 80's synth sound copied with the guitars of The Who and the drums of Black Sabbath

Another thing that I hate is when a band changes a drum sound mid album, or worse, mid song. An example of which I think is AC/DC Thunderstruck, the "*SNARE - BASS - SNARE* THUNDERSTUCK!" compared to the rest of the song, it just pisses me off to no end.

Metallica's awfulness killed Lou Reed
In case people didn't realise, Lou Reed wrote all the songs on Lulu and took them to Metallica for a collaboration.

He then called it "the greatest thing anyone has ever made".

I don't think you can blame Metallica for Lou Reed obviously being a loon.

Metallica would have been well served by disbanding slightly before the release of St Anger and burning anything they'd recorded in the previous few years that was yet to be released.

Yes I'm sure they're distraught with their lives and the millions of dollars they make each year while they travel the world and play music to tens of thousands of screaming fans every night.

Yeah I guess money and popularity is more important than making listenable music that stands the test of time. It's going great guns for Nickelback.
Least Nickelback are being true and writing music naturally. Metallica have been trying to be something they no longer are for the last 10 years and appease a vocal minority of their fan base who all have deep seeded issues that got taken out on the music of Metallica the moment they tried something a little different and stepped out their comfort zone.

Not lulu. That was a little too different. different to a good idea.

You start off being friendly and accommodating.

Then you eventually get worn down by ungrateful, abusive customers.
I had the misfortune of working at one of the major banks for a few years. The undoubted highlight was watching a staff member being abused by a customer. He smiled politely throughout all the abuse, said something long the lines of can you please wait while I look into it, proceeded to close her account, hand her a bank cheque and told her to **** off.

It was a magic moment in an otherwise shit job AND he kept his job.

I had my first cooking shift at work on Sunday. At first it was pretty confusing but I think by the end I sort of got the hang of how long to microwave the schnitzels and the squid for. It was pretty tricky to boil the fish correctly but I found the secret to success is adding the correct amount of sugar to the water before you chuck the fish in. This kills the fish straight away and prevents it from jumping out of the pot.

Get cooked or die frying.
