I don't see the problem with saying Burgess?
Why is this such a hang up for some people.

We call him Polec, we don't call Wingard Mr. Wingard, we don't call Boak Sir Boak (perhaps we should), why should he refer to Burgess as Mr. Burgess. It's not the 1930's anymore.

Fair enough. He's not acquainted enough to be calling him 'Burgo' I think.

I'm not a fan of referring to people by their last name. Its okay when referring to footballers, and sometimes coaches, but if Aaron Young walks up to Travis Boak and says "Hi Boak" well that is ******ed.

Just finished watching the Epic Journey DVD covering Port's entry to the AFL and the lead up to the 2004 premiership.

Classic moment in the 04 qualifying final against Geelong - Brenton Sanderson takes on Pickett and gets totally smashed with a good bump.

Just a few interesting things I picked up on comparing the side then to now. Firstly comparing players there are a few similar ones, or who could develop in to a similar role. Dew - Hartlett, Pittard - Kingsley, Wangas - Wingers, Polec - Schofield? But definitely missing the presence of Tredders, and the superb tap work of Lade, and maybe some speed as well, like the Burgoyne brothers, Choppy. But we do definitely come across as a much more professional club under the current management/coaching staff/leadership group. Big improvement there.

Couple of other things - next year will be 10 years since our first AFL premiership and also 100 years since we were undefeated and the Champions of Australia. First year at AO, good close group building nicely, are we capable of pulling off something special?
