It went the other way actually, teams were hurt because Welsh, Scots and Saxons were all seen as different countries so teams couldn't use their squads. A situation that was not an issue in other countries without the separate identity issues. It also MASSIVELY inflated the cost of any decent English player.

5 X Scots
1 X Welsh and
6 X English players, one of which was an Australian (big reason for following Liverpool at the time) but did not play for Australia.

That is 10 Players from 4 countries other than England that have a vote in FIFA. That is not counting Craig Johnston as an Australian.
At the time I think European sides were allowed no more than 2 foreigners and IIRC not too many years before that they were only allowed one. IIRC again, it wasn't too long after that FIFA said that if they wanted to have separate National teams and separate votes then they couldn't count them as British for one competition and whatever for another.

Purple Vulture Shit - One of the "Beulah Road" bands of the early 80's. Chris Cashel still records and occasionally performs as 'Raw Sex'.

Found this a few weeks ago. George from Grong Grong has been putting up a lot of the bands he filmed years ago on Youtube. This would be from 1983 at a very different Alma Hotel to the jock infested shithole it is today.



On a side note, Tex Tunks of PVS was the brother of rugby league great Peter Tunks.
