Basically you suck on a narrow tube and chewy flavourless pellets come up the straw.

Also I thought I would hate that `The Fox' song, but I love it.

That song is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo last month.

All this talk of the leafy beverage has brought back repressed memories of everyone's favourite name-dropping distant relative and her confusion vis-a-vis chai tea and tai chi.

This is about as good an opportunity as I'll ever get on bigfooty to point out that I've drank masala chai made by Sherpas on the lower slopes of Everest. I've always hated tea in all its forms, but that was some transcendent shit.

I've never heard of bubble tea, so did a Google, just tea with milk, fruit or jelly & sago ... doesn't sound too bad?

Have you jokers ever had sago as a desert?

Sago, or tapioca, is the small translucent balls/pellets you refer to. It is an old fashioned desert which is delicious.

My Mum used to make it all the time, my kids now love it. Mum also made Sago Plum Puddings at Christmas time, tricky to make if you don't get the ingredient quantities just right.

2 cups (500ml) milk
2/3 cup (130g) sago
2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
1 ½cups (330g) brown sugar
3 cups (210g) soft fresh breadcrumbs
3 cups (480g) mixed dried fruit
4 eggs, lightly beaten
120g butter, melted

1. Bring milk to boil and pour over sago in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight to soak.

2. Add bicarbonate of soda and a pinch of salt. Stir through remaining ingredients and mix well.

3. Place a circle of buttered baking paper in base of an 8-cup pudding basin generously greased with butter. Spoon in pudding, packing down firmly as you go. Cover with a circle of buttered baking paper and two sheets of foil. Tie foil with string to seal.

4. Pour enough water into a large saucepan to come halfway up side of pudding basin. Bring to boil and lower pudding into water. Cover and simmer for 4 hours, adding more water if necessary. Serve sliced with Vanilla Custard.

I hate mixed peel, so only use sultanas & currents

But it's doing a really good trade in Hindley St. I'm surprised it looks like they're on a winner.

-1 for the bubble tea
+10 for the proliferation of cheap Banh Mi places

... but just in case hurricane carter might be the man your (sic) looking for....
Or perhaps the exact opposite.
I spent a bit of time reading about this case a few years ago, Carter's a lucky man to be walking around today. Colour was not Carter's problem in this case, if anything it was to his advantage. A white man with his record before and after the shootings would have probably not attracted the support necessary to have freed him after a trial, a re-trial, and a failed appeal.
