Hughes has been dropped and gone on to plunder Shield attacks a few times now. Just cant make the step up.
Time will tell, he's been picked before when he's been out of form. I've watched a bit of sheild cricket this year and I've never seen him bat this well and play scoring shots all around the wicket.

Disagree re: Lyon, I think he is criminally underrated. We were spoilt by Warne, and we aren't going to find another spinner of his quality anytime soon. He is a young, raw spinner who has gotten to 100 wickets only slightly behind Warne, and quicker than any off spinner in history. He has time on his side, and will only start bowling better.

Didn't know that. :thumbsu:

Does this include Asterisk Merrilythrowin?

I think I may have meant Australian offie. I'm trying to find the stat as it was made on the cricket board, but it's taking a lot of time!

Malcolm Marshall once bowled a ball about 7 metres away from the batsman but it define his career ;)

Tufnell was no champion, but i dont think he was a complete spud.

He was vastly entertaining. That's basically what I look for in an English cricketer.

I remember when he took this catch:

And in the next test match someone in the crowd had an "Air Tufnell" banner complete with Jordanesque silhouette.

Just opened my epic marble collection from my primary school days. So many rare ones that I won !

It must be the day for taking out games played during primary school. I've been playing Test Match! I found some scorecards in the box from 1995.

My playing field is a little creased though. I'm not really sure how to fix it. The first google result for "fixing a test match playing field" is Hansie Cronje's wikipedia page

Singh, Swann, Mushtaq, Yardley, Murali (and Vettori & Panesar if you count them) did it quicker. Whilst 6 tests between Warne & Lyon isnt much, theres 71 other bowlers between them, which puts it into a bit more perspective.

I do agree he is underrated though.

My Test Match playing arena has been staple gunned to a piece of timber....

Plywood is smoother but particle board has better drainage.

This is probably the go, although I should have done it 20 years ago before it got too creased. I should still be able to sort something out. Even if it's just the pitch really, I don't care so much about the outfield

If you or someone has a steam iron, the creases should be easily fixed.

Might as well send Haddin in at 4 to start the rescue act a bit earlier.

I can recall a few years ago when I was a kid, Derek Randall fielding near the boundary and trying on hats of members of the crowd. He was a funny bloke, and would have been a good stunt double for Gilligan.

Not only is this English side the worst one in my living memory, but the most bland too. Its all very well for Mark Nicholas to say England is a multi cultural country, but I miss the days of Randall, Gooch, Boycott, Gower, Botham, Dilley, Willis, Underwood, even Tavare.

This current side is a big bowl of meh.

They do enjoy a good Moroccan spiced chicken with a sidedish cucumber and chickpea raita,

Me and my brother used to sticky tape our test match surface to the outdoor table. The bowler was busted so we'd roll the ball instead, it was still good shit. Dad eventually did the plywood thing and we stashed it behind my brothers chest of drawers to be forgotten. I don't even know if it's still there.
