I am teamless until the Rams move back to Los Angeles.

You should do with American football what Americans do with vegemite and stick some up your bunghole.

Then tell me you don't like it.

Why do Americans put vegemite up their bungholes?

Why don't you do what all Australian fans of American sports do, and arbitrarily pick a team that you have no connection to.

It's what fans everywhere of every sport do to be fair.

But i've managed to avoid that for the most part.

I picked the Dolphins because my dad followed them when the NFL was big here in the 80s.
I picked the Spurs because my mate gave me all his David Robinson basketball cards in the mid 90s (and that one paid off like nobodies business over the next decade)
I picked the Angels basically arbitrarily but they were playing the Yankees on TV the first day my parents got Foxtel and I didn't want to go for the Yankees.

The choice that was most arbitrary was the Blackhawks, and I picked them because they had the best jerseys and colours (IMO) after having a frustrating time buying Dolphins merch because the colours suck. The new Dolphins jerseys are better but it's still aqua and orange.

Based on that i'll probably pick the college with the best 59fifty, given that it's the only merch i'm likely to buy these days.

I was like you up until 3 or 4 years ago.

I distinctly remember having conversations with people over the years that went along the lines of "the one sport I've never been able to get into..."

But I learned the rules (paramount - the whole 2nd & 16, 3rd & 2 thing was the equivalent of an American & LBW growing up), got a feel for it...

Yeah pretty similar.

I really enjoy a lot of American sports - Football, Ice Hockey, Basketball. But I rarely get the time to watch them. Aussie Rules and soccer are probably the only two sports I go out of my way to watch consistently from week to week.

I always forget to record the NFL. Which is a pity. That can be my new years resolution. Start watching more American sports.

Man United? I've watched a few of their games this season and they are truly not worth getting up at stupid hours to watch.

Yes, thankyou for pointing that out :D

I don't follow anyone in College Football or Basketball (I have a soft spot for Syracuse but it's for dumb reasons) and I love them both and watch whenever I can. I like the neutrality, I can watch and enjoy the game free of emotion. Because sometimes, like now watching the fn Knicks and Primus era Port, investing emotionally can spoil the whole sport. Luckily I don't give a shit that the Raiders are balls. The NFL has been great this season.

I super duper want to get into college football but i've always gotten stuck at the picking a team part.

I figured eventually i'd go to the US and attend a college game, or have a friend who went to a college or something but here I am at 27 years old and bupkis.
I picked the college I would most likely have gone to. Nitre Dame for me.

I've only just starting really following NBA and NFL completely without committing to following any team and I love it. Entertainment factor for neutrals is great.

It's not as much I don't like it as I don't understand it ...like Americans with vegemite, but obviously you've seen some Yank vegemite action...on a site somewhere perhaps?

If we have one thing to thank the recent surge of American football popularity for, it is certainly #TeamnameNation
