Because Watts was seen as a `sure thing' where NicNat was an unknown quantity, and Melbourne need sure things. Brock McLean was a similar pick, but there they got `lucky' as there were a bunch of duds that went after him.

I think clear #1 draft pick players are often boring to other club fans, because you can never get excited about the possibility of them ending up at your club. By contrast, a guy like NicNat could've dropped to anywhere, including Port, so we know all about him.
