Because its just bog standard, uninteresting, uninventive, formulaic, inoffensive parent rock for 40 year olds to listen to whilst they try and act young listening to a "rock band" in their SUV with My Family stickers on the back.

Theres not a single redeeming feature about Nickelback. There are plenty of crappier bands out there but at least most of those crappy bands are trying something different, not 'rock music for dummies'.

They are better than Coldplay.

I swear this was in the BDC?

I'm confused

Anyways, back on the thread topic. I didn't like how some of the younger lads went on a get fit camp in October last year, the majority of those players have burnt out this year because of it.

Lets not go saying things we can't take back here.

Coldplay are the shittiest of shit bands in the history of shit bands in the kingdom of shitdom.

Thats it, I'm going to start cutting myself again.

You made me laugh out loud.

I've never done that on the infanet before.

I feel so dirty.

Muse are a perfect example of the 3 album rule where the Music world would be far, far better off if bands were forced to stop making music after their third album.

I was a massive Muse fan after Origin of Symmetry and Absolution but they couldn't be more dead to me now.

The 3 albums rule means:
* The Beastie Boys don't release Ill Communication
* RHCP don't release Blood Sugar Sex Magik
* Faith No More don't even get up to Angel Dust, let along King For A Day.
* Metallica don't release the black album.
* The Beatles stop producing albums in 1964.

I like John Butler Trio

Good to have it off my chest

I just got an email from the club asking me to create my CLUB1870 profile for use later in the year.

It's up to you good fellows of this random thoughts thread to create my profile.

Turn on SAFM for an hour and tell me that all of the autotuned rappers singing about havin fun 2nite in da club that make up about three quarters of popular music are 'trying something different'.

They might all be at different clubs.

Nah, you get a few bands who take a while to get going. Modest Mouse and the Black Keys are two that come to mind. Started out very average IMO, but I love them both now.

I don't doubt there would be some pretty massive casualties. The Beatles and the Black Keys are terrific examples.

Although i'm claiming Mike Patton era FNM as a new band :)

I'm just saying that music as a whole would be better.

Well I dont really count that as music and they arent bands. I just think Nickelback are deliberately beige.

Yeah totally.

I mean I hate skrillex and I can't listen to what he does but it's at least something.

Nickelback is just lowest common denominator as-generic-as-possible rock designed to be inoffensive enough to play on mainstream radio and therefore make lots of money. It's white noise. It's as beige as it gets.

Pop music will ebb and flow but if more bands start acting like Nickelback the music industry is dead.

So are Powderfinger, Jet, Simple Plan etc., but it's only Nickleback who get almost universal mockery, even from the same mainstream sources who won't say a bad word about the other shitty bands.

I'm thinking they've just become the acceptable 'band to make fun of' and everyone just jumped on for the ride.

this is absolutely true

every generalisation about boring middle aged people who think they are edgy is true

coldplay take puss to new levels

i ring up clients and ask if they want to go to a (devin townsend, iced earth, SOAD) concert with me and they all say, no thanks, im more into coldplay, U2, nickelback, chisel, maybe pushing up the line with pearl jam (who are okay by the way)

coldplay and U2 are 2 bands who go in the same sentence every time

you can probably add that other yawn fest group oasis into that list, but they are old farts who died 20 years ago

coldplay take the prize

More and more I find myself defined as everything that b0ydman hates.
