I've always thought that if Tasmania had a team, they would be called Tasmania United, and they would make good use of green (since no other club has it) and be called The Greens, rather than United. This would be good if they were to pick up some sort of company or business that wanted to say something like "we're green etc" and get a good rep. BHP would see this and be like "omfg, let's sponsor them!" BHP would also offer training and jobs at the mines to fail players.

Anyway, as a new club, they'd pick up a lot of the rejected players from other clubs, and 'recycle' them through their system. Colloquially they'd be known as the recyclables, and, eventually, that'd be their official moniker. They'd have the logo above, but with some adjustments (triangle becoming the Tasmanian border, and TUFC added, etc). They'd have bins all around their stadium for recycling. They would wear world-first biodegradble guernseys, and at first, there would be a lot of quite naked men on the field, so when 80/90's fashion comes back in, they'd wear several very thin multi-coloured layers so that you could see a whole range of colours as only some parts of each layer would biodegrade at a time.

Their training ground would also double as a bottle collection depot, where, if their players fail in their footy system, and at the mines, they have a back up job recycling bottles. Why hasn't Andy D even considered this possibility yet?

This random thought is about 3 days too late and I have no idea why it suddenly popped into my head, but I loved Aaron Young's goal celebration on the weekend. Looked like he'd just won the lottery. That kid really, really wants to play and enjoy AFL football. I very much hope he develops into a good enough player in a good enough team to do so.

I really like Young and I think he offers more than plenty of the hacks who get picked week in week out.

Strangely we haven't gone full youthful exuberance under Hocking. I was sure we'd see some of the older guys get dropped so he could play the kids and be a hero to supporters win or lose. But no.

I know I say this a lot but what does Mitch Banner have to do to get a freaking league game, let alone an AFL game?

Read Facebook moar. Rodan, Logan, Thomas and Brett Ebert are the only heroes the supporter base of this club has. The only one they want brought back is 27 year old Salopek. And they're still whingeing about Chad and Brogan, and blaming Primus' sacking on his treatment of the senior players. Half of them probably don't even know who Aaron Young is.

90% of Port supporters are morons (luckily there are very few of those types on BF or else I'd go nuts). Anybody who is a hero to them is probably a shit coach.

If you want a microcosm of our list management, selection and everything in between since we won the flag, look no further than the lead-up to and aftermath of Primus' sacking.

Brett Ebert as key forward. Dom Cassisi, John McCarthy, Tom Logan, Matt Thomas and everyone in between spudding it up. David Rodan reinstated. A player in some semblance of form dropped for no good reason in Pfeiffer and then reinstated five minutes later. Zero experimentation unless throwing Carlile forward against Brisbane because.....(?) counts as shaking things up.

Salopek and Banner given no chance to resurrect their careers despite our season being shot and there being no downside to their selection whatsoever, with nothing but potential benefit in terms of their incumbent value or potential market value going up.

There is no trap-door out of the side except through injury and no meritocratic stairway in, other than musical chairs (see Phillips' promotion off the back of a worst on ground performance for Norwood).

Honestly, remember the days when Chris Hall would be getting 30 hard touches a week for South and couldn't get a sniff of league football? Even a few years ago we had Nick Lower showing heaps of promise at Norwood having to smash down the door so he could be played out of position as a medium defender.

You're kidding yourself, tribey. Under this coaching staff they still wouldn't get played ahead of Logan, Thomas, Rodin, McCarthy etc no matter how well they were playing.

I'm still working under the theory that Primus put up a depth chart in his office at the start of the year and that selection decisions are based on that rather than on form.

I can't believe I still can't believe discards from successful programs like Logan and McCarthy can come in and become rusted-on fixtures of a side that once upon a time saw no value in keeping the likes of Bode, Guerra, Cockatoo-Collins, Symes, Lower, D. Motlop and now Salopek and presumably Banner.
