I think we want the same outcome with differing results along the way.

If sydney faced a hawthorn or a Collingwood - Victorian commentators will call them the swans and revert back to their Victorian biases ('c'mon real Victorian team win')

But for the moment they will laud the Victorian connection against a non Victorian opponent
