Lyon's doing a better job at Freo than what he did at St. Kilda IMO. His gameplan can win premierships, but at St. Kilda he picked players to fit his gameplan (i.e. hardworking spuds) and they were exposed in the finals when everyone is a hard worker. At Freo he's picking talented players and making them work hard, not just picking spuds who know they have to work hard because it's all they have going for them.

Lyon's gameplan + better personnel choices = potential premiership. Only problem is they'll have to do it quickly before Sandi and Pav go south.

He may have Mark Harvey's foresight to thank at least a little bit.

Yeah, the ability of Fremantle to lose what they should win is unchanged. Sure they move up and down the ladder, but geez they'd be frustrating to be a fan of. We've been plain shit the last 5 years, but there's no real delusions otherwise.

Next week the Crows SHOULD be smashed by 10 goals plus, but unfortunately there's that nagging doubt that we'll see a Crows GF. Mostly as it'd be like their other ones in that'd correspond to the worst possible time for Port. Their first two just when Port starts in the AFL and needed 'clean air' to get impartial supporters, now when we are at our lowest ebb. If they'd happened / happen when we are going along, mid-table it'd be a ****ing pain no doubt about it, but not the knife in the guts of the PAFC to boot. So glass half empty mode has me worried as well.

Once the Crows started dominating in the 2nd quarter it looked likely that they would run over Freo. Felt for Pav, on one leg and just couldn't compete all night. It might just be me but Tippett didn't look overly happy that his team won, it was more like "you mean I have to play for the Crows for another week" *sad face*.

Say what you want about the Crows, but Taylor Walker is one hell of a footballer. Porplyzia is a pretty handy bloke to have as well. The empty seats in the crowd were bizarre, what's going on there? Ticketing stuff up? Members not showing up?

I don't think they have it in them to get close to Hawthorn next week. The Hawks have hit top gear and they have had the benefit of a week off. As much as Hawthorn's antics and hypocrisy annoyed me during our meetings this season, they are a machine to watch when they get off and running and Franklin stepping up in finals is jizzworthy. So I wouldn't be too unhappy if they won the flag this year, probably would prefer Sydney though.

In your written applications demonstrate that you have researched the agencies you are applying with and that you've thought about the service they deliver and how you will value add to that service.

Ditto if you have an interview and make sure you present well and are punctual.

Arrive early and scrub up decent, but not over the top, and don't stress about the interview. At 17, it doesn't matter if you don't get the first job you go for - there will be one round the corner. Don't worry if you don't hear anything straight away, some places can take weeks to organise an interview or even to confirm the position.

Absolutely make 100% sure that your CV does not have any spelling or grammar errors.When you get interviewed, shake hands firmly, be yourself, don't make up answers, be honest if you don't know an answer and above all, whoever asks you a question, make sure you look them in the eyes. Also have a positive body language.

Occasionally I watch a few minutes of NRL. I don't like the sport, it is more curiousity and to see the realively poor crowds. Has anyone noticed the sound effect of a thud whenever a big tackle is made? It doesn't happen all of the time, but I'm sure that it is added by the TV station.

Ch 9 love to put the thud sound with the big hits. Fox Sports coverage doesn't do it, or doesn't seem to me. But then again I used to watch League a fair bit on Ch 9 when I was in Sydney but because AFL games are all over the place now, I tend to watch few games on Fox Sports as Ch 9 show stuff after midnight in Adelaide.

Since 2000 when its been 1v4, 2v3 etc in week 1, only 2 top 4 sides have gone out in straight sets, us in 2001 had to play Brisbane in the heat and humidity then play Hawks after September 11, and WCE in 2007, lost to us then Pies in extra time, after drugs ravagged their season. Both sides finished 3rd. Both Hawks and Pies lost PF's by small margins (9pts and 5pts respectively).

The only top 4 side to lose week 1 and then make GF were 3 sides who went on to win it, ie Brisbane in 2003 to Collingwood, Sydney 2005 to WCE, West Coast 2006 to Sydney,

Any semblance of competence and back-to-back was right on the cards.
