Radiohead (other than one or two songs) and the Beatles are both shit. Radiohead's greatest hits double CD is atrocious.
Ridiculous comments. But of course you are right and hundreds of thousands (or millions) of others are wrong. And not only fans of course but the plethora of musicians who site these bands as influential. Both have been experimental in pushing the limits when they could easily have continued to churn out the music that made them huge to start with. Even if you are not a fan of the bands then as a fan of music you should still respect how they have gone about it in staying true to themselves.

I hate the Beatles because they invented pop and turned music from an artful expression to a commodity used to profit off of teens raging hormones, which led to the abominations that we see today like one direction and beiber. Saying that though, I would never state that the Beatles are a shit band, they are too widely acclaimed and have influenced too much for me to say that with a straight face.

I will say I think they're shit though. I think Oasis are a thousand times better, and if you knew me that's saying something. I think the white album is great, but I'm of the opinion that it wouldn't have been recorded if it wasn't for the popularity of their earlier , shittier pop music.

Johnny cashs covers album rocks
His cover of "Hurt" has pretty much become legendary at this point. Didn't mind his cover of The Mercy Seat and The Rusty Cage

I think that happened way before that.

Would Kallis' celebration of his ton be played down a little due to his buddy getting out a few balls earlier? Apparently not.

Why's it called a ton anyway? Isn't that 1000

Actually it happened earlier than that. If I remember correctly, it came from the record industry witnessing the massive popularity of the black people playing music in the late 40s/early 50s. But since they still weren't considered people (eventually a law was passed that they were 3/5th's) they needed a white person who played that music. Just so they could make as much money from the popularity as possible. If anything, blame Elvis.

Beatles can be massively, massively overrated, but are extremely good.

Radiohead are shit. Same applies for the Rolling Stones.

I've always figured the reason the Beatles get so much praise is because the casual music listeners and the musos can all find something to appreciate about either part of their catalogue. And don't diss the Stones or Zeppelin either. Anyway, I've always like The Who better.

Regarding Radiohead, I like The Bends, and don't mind OK Computer, but not much else apart from that.

The Moody Blues version is just so much better. Great rock band, lasting the test of time. Lucky to see them live a year ago - fantastic for a group 50 years on.

Elvis certainly pioneered the pop star hype that we know today, but the Beatles took branding and commercialism to a whole new level, with their t-shirts, lunch boxes, buttons, posters etc. They were one of the first bands to be successfully marketed to a target audience. They completely changed the way the music scene works as far as it being an industry more than an expression, with the intention of writing songs purely for popularity, which will sell records. This, IMO, corrupted the integrity of future songwriters and artists. I hold The Beatles more responsible for this than anyone else, regardless of who did it first.
