My wife and I recently returned from interstate. Driving back we passed through Maffra and Torquay, which caused me to think of the Butchers and Boak.

Maffra is larger than expected, seeming to be a centre for agriculture. Landscape was slightly undulating and still greenish, unlike our burnt-off fields here. Looked a nice place to grow up.

Torquay was a typical seaside tourist destination. Could not get reasonably-priced accommodation at Torquay or nearby Anglesea. Family is there but surely Travis likes Adelaide better! Nearby Geelong is huge, covering a very wide area.

I asked Butch at the B&F if where he came from was timber country, as I had been to Moe and Taralgon and surronding areas but not Maffra, eventhough it was relatively close by. He told me Maffra is dairy cow country and that dairy cows had been in his mother's side of the family for 3 generations. You need year round greenier for diary cows to eat.

A bloke I played footy with in Darwin called "Balls" was from Maffra and knows the Butchers and the Butcher family.

Reckons they are a good mob and Maffra is Gods country.
