Woke up this mornin with a doona full of vomit
Didn't have a shower
Watched Wallace'n'Grommit
Playstation One til me fingers bled
Got 3 ****ed Commos in me colourbond shed
Once me liver recovers it'll be back to the grind
50 hours a week to provide me missus' pussy with Dine
Get into growls for no reason Ad Hominem
Love me West End bottles more than Bevan Von Einem

Keep an eye out for me next Strayaday, khents. Vote One, Tribex.

The best/worst part is that I can hear that song in my head, voiced by Evil Eddie from Butterfingers.

First set to the non-grunter. Or has bloody ch7 got this on 1/2 hour delay in SA.

Holy ****...... Wayne Phillipis doing the Ch 7 sport up date. Is he working for Ch 7 news now???

No other bogans draped in Aussie flags would have been drinking and making complete moos of themselves would they?
That is actually a fair question.
Did the riots in Cronulla change the way we celebrate Australia Day?

Invasion Day?
Is the time coming for Australia Day to be celebrated on the 9th of May to recognise the opening of the first parliament or something similar?

No. Jan 26 is Australia Day. The only thing that should be changed is to make it illegal to wear the flag as a cape.

Not saying it is my opinion atm or anything like that, but it has been talked about and debated in the past that most countries usually celebrate the day they became a nation and not the day their continent was discovered. Independence Day, and Canada Day etc etc, not Christopher Columbus day.

Jan 26 has not always been the official holiday and IIRC it started odd being a NSW only holiday much like Proclamation Day in SA.

wrt how people celebrate, I certainly would strongly and vocally disagree with any restrictions on flying flags or anything like as that would be just plain stupid, bogans or no bogans, but if it does become a day of divisiveness rather than a day of celebration then the old debates may need to be had all over again.

Will Olympians still be allowed to do it?

The style of music has changed completely. It's the same stuff as on Nova and Fresh, TripleJ just play it earlier.

Yeah, but I think the style needs to change really.

When JJJ had 90s week a few months back, that irked me. Sure I liked the music that was being played, but I remember how important JJJ was to me as a kid because I was sick to death of having "the best of the 60s, 70s and 80s" shoved down my throat, and wanted to hear what was happening right now. *

Its youth-oriented radio, and I reckon that any music from a year that the average 16 year old wasn't born in yet has little or no place on it.

I still like picking up bands and singers that I hear various places, when JJJ focuses on new talent I know I appreciate it, and I really feel that turning Triple J into a stagnant monument to the old millenium is the sort of bullshit anachronistic thing that Boomers have done. Lets move on, people.

* You could argue that JJJ filled a desperate need at the time given the infancy of the internet; a need that isn't there now with the instant availability of music. To be honest, I'm actually far more likely to discover new music now through Spotify than Triple J, but if we're going to pay to maintain old media (ABC), at least let them achieve their stated goals.

The difference years ago was that Triple J played music that wasn't listened to by youth or the masses.

It was generally genres that weren't played on other stations in amongst some extreme genres that get no airplay anywhere else. Those days are long gone and the station sucks.

Whatever happened to those few months when Triple M became the old Triple J and played a mix of metal, grunge, dance and hip hop all on the same station. I remember hearing Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Snoop and Armand Van Helden all during the day. Then after mass complaints by the Skyhooks 4 times a day generation it reverted back to the way it was.

There is definitely a market for a radio station playing that kind of stuff....because the work force isn't entirely made up of Skyhooks, Dire Straits and Stones listeners anymore.

OK, but thats representative of the mainstream coming into line with Triple J to some extent.

Its not like Triple J is now playing non-stop Beyonce or Jay-Z or Nicky Minaj or Bruno Mars or Guy Sebastian or any of that crap.

I guess there might be a market for more 90s/00s stuff on a radio station, but someone has to take that risk. I'm sure you're right though - I had major respect for Terminator Salvation for its in-film soundtrack featuring an Alice in Chains song and nothing newer than that. But who will start that station?

For the most part 90s people are lazy and unadventurous ****ers, and I include myself among them.

True.

But Triple J has definitely lost its "edge" with the abundance of soft rock and nothing songs.

Well, its also not like Triple J didn't play Elliott Smith, You Am I, The Whitlams, Sarah Blasko, Ben Lee, and god knows how many other ballady types in the past.

Edit: I'll keep adding names as I think of them: Powderfinger. Augie March. Anyone that won an ARIA award. Queens of the Stone Age. Missy Higgins. John Butler Trio. Kings of Leon. Scissor Sisters. The Wombats. Alex Lloyd. Something for Kate. Ben Folds. Ben Harper.

Has the world ever produced better side burns than those of Mungo Jerry?

Yeah I havent listened to commercial fm radio for years. I dont think Js is much different than what it used to be, I just think that instead of teens listening to nu-metal and punk and local rock or electronic acts like....now everyone wants to hear bog standard indie rock followed by bog standard folk rock followed by more bog standard indie rock witht he odd dubstep or local hip hop track thrown in.

Yeah, there's not exactly a huge difference between:
and

how good was jjj in the late eighties as jj and then the 90s with helen razor, mike robins, and paul mcdermott doing the morning show; roy and hg's this sporting life and drive with ian rogerson and debbie spillain

still enjoy the j's today but wish they would explore and push the boundaries a little more
