Chopper just died.

I am actually upset by this. Though he caused a lot of pain in his life (thankfully only to bad people), he also did all he could to make up for it. A very private and tortured soul in the end, getting by selling paintings he made, and his book. All in an effort to make money for his children that he realised were his life.

An iconic Australian figure like it or not, and no doubt a release from his very troubled life.

While you are obviously trolling, people actually believe this.

The man was probably an actual sociopath, but more than that he was a terrible criminal and most certainly didn't cause pain "only to bad people". He deserves the fame he has because he is an interesting figure, but he does not deserve any pity.

Do soccer fans actually do that though? Or is your notion kind of comparable to when Australian hicks talk about "All the damn muslims trying to convert us!!!11!"?

I don't care which is the 'main game' in australia. Its a sport, I enjoy sport. It's my country, I support my country in sports.

It's not about the rivalry. That said, I don't follow the a-league. Only international matches, the EPL etc.

But that's never going to happen and also goes both ways.

The only sport I've never been able to consistently watch is rugby league. But I'm not fussed with it being the primary game in places like Sydney, Brisbane and uhhhhh, Wigan?

IMO its the main reason why AFL subsidizing the moves into NSW and QLD. Yes in the short term it's about programming content. In the long term they'd want to be really well established before soccer takes off and NRL gets strangled between AFL, soccer & Union - long term stuff.

In SA you could argue the SANFL has been soccer's best friend by holding back the two AFL clubs and living off them while also eating up the last 50 years of accumulated assets. If you care about footy be thankful the petty rivalries and "ongoing ethnic focus" of soccer bureaucrats in Oz has ensured they shoot their own sport in the foot once in each generation. That level of incompetence can't be assumed to continue.
