My back is ****** and I have no idea what I did to it. Just woke up yesterday and it has been killing me since. 1 lyk = 1 prayer. <3

I would say it may be something to do with your tryst with Vince, Talia and Wright.

They did **** me pretty hard but I reckon it might be from getting thrown off the roof of my car while my mate was drifting in the paddock. It didn't hurt at all at the time though, got straight back up and felt fine so I have no idea.

Does anyone on here live in, or has lived in Mawson Lakes? I'm moving back to Adelaide early next year after 8 years interstate, and am trying to narrow down an area to move to. Mawson Lakes ticks a lot of boxes price wise, and location wise, but just wanting some reviews by locals - eg on child care, schools, crime, facilities, ease of getting to the city for work?

Did anyone else see the "guyk" thread before it disappeared?

I go to the unisa at mawson.

It's full of foreign uni students in student accommodation, there is no internet in many parts besides wireless, it's near an airport in parafield, plus you have me walking around after uni destroying the place. A fair bit of crime and burnouts etc - but that is natural anywhere in the north. FWIW I live in elizabeth downs, it's a shithole but its a first house and I would rather be paying a mortgage while attending uni than renting.

On the plus side yes, prices are great but so is everywhere in the north area, it's modern. Can't speak about schools etc, none come to mind and I haven't really seen any. Most of the schools are further north or further towards the city. To me, its one of those places that never really took off. The mawson lakes town centre is tiny and deserted most days. Not much on offer there. It is a pretty easy drive from there to town/port via Salisbury highway though.

Lived in an apartment on Main Street (behind the bank, Caffe Primo). Utter shithole. Noisy, busy, the embodiment of high density 'village' living.

I suspect a McMansion tucked away in the watery bits would be quite nice if not ludicrously overpriced like the rest of the great unfinished Delfin/Devine revenue streams.

I really don't rate it either. I was just trying to be nice by also highlighting a few good things about it.

If you want an honest opinion, Portmac, it's rubbish.

How come the foreign uni students bit was in the negative paragraph?

1) When you get put in uni groups where over half of the people cant speak English
2) You get lecturers who aren't much better
3) They get marked extremely leniently when they don't even turn up for classes.
4) I had an Afghani fellow threaten me if I didn't give him a good peer review after he had been away for 8 of the 12 weeks of the semester.

You learn to dislike working with them pretty quickly. Mawson is particularly full of them, and the housing there for them is basically ugly modern soviet apartment blocks.

A white person was mean to me too once. I now dislike all white people.

OK marks without attending class? You would most certainly hate me :)

Also, I always give 100% in peer reviews. Helping someone out at zero cost to me seems to be a pretty obvious choice.

Haha, this one time we all got graded a D and one guy got a P1 in our group. He was immediately like did you ****ers give me a shit peer review? we were all like "nah".

The next semester we had more group with with the same group minus the guy who got the P1, i'm like so...did you guys actually give him a shit peer review? They were all like "yep." His actual nickname now is "P1". He hates it, it's great.

Mind you, he definitely didn't contribute much and never turned up to group meetings.

I had a third year course at Flinders where an oriental gent in my tute could not speak a word of English. The tutor would also spend an inordinate amount of time trying to include him by asking embarrassingly basic questions about the material that were more in keeping with a SCOSA-themed kindergarten. He'd always respond with this wide-eyed horror that would morph into this enthusiastic smiling nod accompanied by zero words.

Now not all international students are that horribly out of their depth, obviously, but it was hard not to feel like all Australian university parchment was roughly as valuable as my Year 4 biro licence after that.
