Watching Keating at the moment.

Geez I miss him compared to the useless drongos we have had the last 5 -10 years in parliament.

The use of the language is what I love about him. Talking about where he grew up "in these communities there was a great sodality." He said its an old word not used very much. Bloody oath I had to look it up. It means fellowship or comradeship.

Talking about his grandmother's and mother's love - "its almost like wearing the asbestos suit you go thru the fire but you're not going to be burnt.'

Talked about his friendship with Jack Lang and it was his use of language that he loved about Lang. The apprentice learnt well from the master.

Loved the finish of tonight's Keating. It finished with the Whiltlam government's dismissal. He said he knew it was an coup, clear as day an illegal coup. He raised the idea that they should arrest and lock up Sir John Kerr but said his colleagues (who early said weren't capable of acting differently to what they did at the time) met it with derision. He finishes with "the're just dead lucky that I wasn't the prime minister. Because even I wouldn't have known what would have happened, but it wouldn't have been to take it lightly."
