Jimmy Allen told Norf he would stay with them if they found his wife a job. They found the job, he signed with the wedlegs. Stay classy.

Quoted for typical SANFL awfulsomeness.

I like wine, but I'll stick to my Hibiki 17/21 year old Japanese whiskey. At least you know it's gonna be good, and much, MUCH better than the insanely overrated Johnnie Walker Blue. Too bad you have to order it online as no-one in Australia stocks it.

My fiancée finally settled a claim today for a personal injury 4 years ago. Took a 7 hour mediation session in Sydney. Epic day, emotionally draining. She has headed out to buy a new dress and then off for a celebratory dinner at Darling Harbour. What is this feel?

The feel that Eddie Dingle is about to head to Darling Harbour for a free feed and a crack at your chick?

My wife got me a bottle of 1981 Grange for my 30th a couple years back. We drank it last year. Not a great Grange vintage, but decent enough. Had good provenance so was in good condition, though the cork disintegrated on opening.

Its hard to rank it. Was it the nicest wine ive drunk? No. Not by a long shot. Was it the nicest 20yo or older red ive drunk? I'd have to say yes by some way. It tasted comparable in terms of weight, age, texture, flavour, complexity to most 5-8yo reds you'd drink. For 99% of wine made in this country, a 30yo red would have completely fallen before then and been near undrinkable. The fact that it was comparable to wines 25 years its younger is what makes Grange such a good wine and you can see why those that get to taste brilliant vintages talk so highly of it.

Just when you thought Sunday evenings couldn't be any more unpleasant.

What's with the specific once a month thing? That's really weird.

Her mum comes down to look after some kids from another part of the family on a Sunday every month. What I don't understand is why the **** she doesn't just stay at the house she is babysitting at.

That's the angle I'm going to run with, this is not going to happen.

The way she dropped it on me was awful, she just re-arranged her office room and said "so this is where the bed is going for when mum comes down every sunday once a month"

I'm like "what? since when? thanks for consulting me first."

You don't have kids or have had to look after nieces and nephews too often have you? Her mum wants to walk away from them at some point and not have to look after them at the evening time or the next morning. Smart move on her part. Also she wants to spend time her daughter.

Man you gotta relax and work with your partner on this one. You will have to be nice for 4-6 hours once every 30 days. That's not that big a drama is it?? I would be looking for a quid pro quo on this one. You might end up in front

I hate the thought of being inconvenienced by someone else's kids who need babysitting. (no I don't have kids, and I also have no time for them in general. So my view is skewed). I shouldn't really care as I work every sunday though, lol. I just don't want to come home and have my after work fap interrupted by a meddling mother in law.

Tell her to get Effed and sink some Scotch yourself! She will lead you to the bottle!

In other news, Preseason gathering, bye week and Grand Final after party at the Doc's joint this year

May I suggest having your after work fap in front of said mother in law will guarantee her non return to your abode ever again. Problem solved.

I'll give it to you, you are consistently self absorbed. At least you have the same contempt for family as you do for society in general.

my mother in law comes and stays for 2-3 nights one week in every 6 or so, mid week. Wasnt keen to begin with but enjoy it now. Gives us one week where we dont have to pay for child care. Living in the country by ourselves we dont get to see family often so enjoy it when they come up and see us.

My Mother in law comes up for a few weeks at a time. Believe it or not I drive her nuts before she even gets close to annoying me. Having said that my own mother does my head in after about 15 minutes. Is it weird that 4 weeks of your mother in law is better than 4 hours of your own mother?

No. I'd way rather spend time with my in law than my own. My Mum does my head in like no other.
