My wife got me a bottle of 1981 Grange for my 30th a couple years back. We drank it last year. Not a great Grange vintage, but decent enough. Had good provenance so was in good condition, though the cork disintegrated on opening.

Its hard to rank it. Was it the nicest wine ive drunk? No. Not by a long shot. Was it the nicest 20yo or older red ive drunk? I'd have to say yes by some way. It tasted comparable in terms of weight, age, texture, flavour, complexity to most 5-8yo reds you'd drink. For 99% of wine made in this country, a 30yo red would have completely fallen before then and been near undrinkable. The fact that it was comparable to wines 25 years its younger is what makes Grange such a good wine and you can see why those that get to taste brilliant vintages talk so highly of it.

Two of the best wines I've had were a 96 Wendouree Cabernet Malbec last year, and an 89 Menzies Cab Sav for my 35th in '03. Both sensational wines.

Torbreck Cuvée Juveniles GSM is my favourite budget wine at the moment.

Great wines Wendouree. Pity you basically need to kill a virgin and deflower a lamb (or the other way around) to get their wines.

...or know someone that works at the Casino when they clear out their cellar. ;)

No. I'd way rather spend time with my in law than my own. My Mum does my head in like no other.

My wife is convinced I develop tourettes if my mother is within a 500 metre radius of me.

Last time she visited she said "you and your brothers don't talk to me much anymore?"

I responded "How the **** would you know, you haven't ever shut up long enough for one of us to say anything"

Short visit that one.

Appreciate your mums while you can... I lost mine 2 years ago and it ******* sucks !

Feels for you my brother.

I'll be sad when mum shuffles off, hopefully she stops annoying me by then.

Yep, realised that with my Dad. I think my Mum has the unique ability to do my head in like no other because I love her so much. If anyone else tried that shit I would have told them to get ****ed before it got anywhere. My Mum gets under my skin because I let her. It's better than not talking to her at all. If that makes sense.

Going to Vietnam in about 3 days and the only word I know is 'You Mother****er' in Vietnamese. I think I'm going to be Schapelle Corby'd or wind up in a ditch somewhere.
Friend of mine does a bit of work for a football team there called the Swans (I think?) and I think we're going to be checking out a couple matches there late Jan. Should be good!

When Adelaide gets hot it is horrible.

I'll give it to you, you are consistently self absorbed. At least you have the same contempt for family as you do for society in general.

sums me up pretty aptly.

Two and a Half Men is for people who don't want to hurt their brain trying to think about what is on the tv. Its obvious type of comedy. So was Married with Children, but that show was 10 times better than 2.5 Men.

Seinfeld comedy is more discreet, but very, very clever.

Its a bit of an insult comparing the genius of characters such as Kramer and George, with the clowns on Two and a Half Men. Ashton Kutcher has made the show even worse. Sheen's character was half decent, Kutcher is just, well I don't know..

I wish my work had air conditioning
I work in a centre so it is air conditioned...but, they turn the air con off at around 8:30pm and we worked right through to 12am last night. The shop became a gigantic sauna, the tv section was a no fly zone, it was hotter than a thousand suns.

Had an ex-mate tell me that Seinfeld isn't funny, and that Two and a Half Men was quality. And was being honest.

I was lost for words.

This how your post should have read...

sorry to hear that.
I lost my father when I was 10. it turned everything upside down. mum and dad had a small business with 6 stores across adelaide. my mum was left to run it herself. we had a holiday house in goolwa we used to go to every fortnight. that got sold, my dads huge boat got sold, his 1960s mustang got sold. my childhood as I knew it evaporated. ive never really come to terms with the fact I went to a mates house for a sleepover still having a dad, and came home without one. every year a family thing comes around especially fathers day. I envy the **** out of everyone who has the chance to do things with their fathers. I loved fishing so much for example, and then it all stopped when be died, and I have no idea how to fish now. losing a parent is awful at any stage but I wouldnt wish the emptiness and agony of losing a parent in your young years on even the worst people to walk this earth. it was all compounded by the fact I had no brothers or uncles. it was me and three sisters and a mother.

Unpopular opinion time: I don't find Seinfeld funny whatsoever. Everyone I know with similar comedic taste to me loves it, but I can barely raise a smirk.

My parents favourite shows to watch with dinner are Big Bang Theory and Family Guy. I tried to introduce them to shows like Community and Arrested Development but they didn't "get" the humour.
Each to their own and all that but I just do not understand it.

Edit: I hadn't read this page of the thread when I posted that and Dingle beat me to it. :(
