So who would win a race off between K Cornes and Van Berlo? Does anyone care? Have any times been made public that we could compare? They need to arrange this "showdown" so this argument can be settled once and for all. Run it between innings of the next 20/20 game at Adelaide Oval.

I only started watching buffy like last year. Its pretty bloody good.
Yeah. Well-written, tongue in cheek, cheap and simple. Dry humour too. But I only dip in every now and then. I understand there is a chronology to events and relationships and because I don't watch it sequentially some of that stuff goes over my head.

I could maybe get away with watching some firefly again but buffy would make me cry.

Haven't tried Buffy or Angrl, but Firefly most definitely holds up.

Season 3 of Buffy, last year of high school, the Mayor, Faith, Five by five, just stunning. Characters were very well-defined by then and the actors really comfortable in the roles.

Season 5 Glory, say no more. Brilliant but should have ended there.

Compelling viewing when TV channels would actually stick with a show through a season and didn't have 5 digital channels to run it into the ground on.

'Four fonts walk into a bar the barman says "Oi - get out! We don't want your type in here"

Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.

I cleaned the attic with the wife the other day. Now I can't get the cobwebs out of her hair

'I went to the zoo the other day, there was only one dog in it, it was a shitzu

Donnie Darko is my favourite movie :D

I thought the film was about a kid with schizophrenia or psychosis but someone told me it was about a parallel universe which had a very limited time path of some 28 days.

Which was it? or is it neither?

One of the things that you can discipline yourself to do - if you want to - when it comes to movies, or any kind of art, really, is to give up that need for an explanation, understanding, for everything to make sense.

The ending of Donnie Darko movies emotional sense; that's the only kind of sense it needs to make.

You should do with American football what Americans do with vegemite and stick some up your bunghole.

Then tell me you don't like it.

but does it still taste salty?

DISCLAIMER. OFFKILTER IS POSTING THEREFORE INTOXICATION MUST BE APPARENT.

:(

TV, Radio and Beta/VCR/Laser Disc/VCD/DVD/Blu-Ray are redundant and antiquated. Why would you want your viewing taste dictated to you by the all mighty dollar? By dollar I mean, record companies, advertising agencies and classification boards to name a few.

I stoped watching (bar sports broadcasting) channels 7,9 & 10 as of 2004, I ceased all TV as of 2011, (once again barring AFL & Cricket). I haven’t listened to a commercial radio station since 1993, I stopped listening to JJJ as of 2006 and switched to ZZZ or ABC radio but haven’t listened to either since 2011. (**Exemptions to the rule may be to listen to my beloved PAFC, which I have streamed)

Movies? Documentaries? Shiat! I can’t even remember the last one I rented! But I will still go to a cinema to watch a movie that deserves it. I remember back in 2008, my partner (now wife) and myself would only watch SBS and ABC. For 6 months all I saw previewed were films I had already seen.

Why? Torrentspy. Supernova, Mininova. Isohunt. The Bay to name a few.

We now have control over our own tastes due to the advent of technology. Why let ourselves be dictated by people who do not care about the art but would rather turn a profit? But before you scream hypocrisy, like anything in life, if you feel it, support it. I don’t download Australian films, because I have a vested interest in the industry being sustainable. If there is a film I want to see and is aired in a cinema I watch it (I watch more foreign films than I do English, woops, sorry American!). If there is a band I like I will buy their merch and vinyl (I have a growing catalogue of both vinyl and T-shirts and trust me I’m a music freak). If there is a club I like, I buy a membership, merch and go to the games when they play in my state.

I don’t go to the News Limited tabloids to gather my information about my club anymore, I go to the source(PAFC) or here to avoid being force fed information or disinformation that is superfluous to my needs so why should my artistic tastes be any different.

VIVA LA TORRENT!

You always hear that winning overseas is tough - India, Pakistan- when you are allowed to play there.

In the 1980's the Windies were about the only team who regularly won away from home.

But its bloody hard for visiting teams to win in Oz. Since the Winides won 3-1-1 in 1988-89 and then we whipped the poms 4-0-2 in 1989 this is the the results in Oz. (As you can see its great for ch 9 ratings and Packer milked it for all its worth paying unders for the TV rights. It wasn't until after Kerry died and Jamie sold out of 9 that the 9 Network has had to truly face a competitive tender for the rights with ch 10 seriously bidding in mid 2013)

Border era
P-27 W-13 L-3 D-11
Win 6 series, Lose 1 and Draw 1
Lost 5-1-2-2 against the Windies and that includes a 1 run loss in 4th test in Adelaide in 1992-93 series then got smashed in Perth by an Innings, test started 3 days after Adelaide - Curtly Ambrose took 7 wickets for 1 run in a first innings spell after Oz was about 3-120.
Drew 3-1-1-1 against SAF and that includes a 5 run loss in Sydney in 1993-94 series
Typical Border era, lots of gritty draws.

Taylor era
P-27 W-17 L-5 D-5
Win 7 series, Lose 0 and Draw 0
Lost 4 of those 5 tests after the series was decided. Only one that wasn't was 3rd test of 5 at the MCG against the Windies in 1996-97, when Curtly Ambrose smashed thru the batting line up, after being bagged by the press for not getting many wickets in the first two tests, despite lots of dropped catches off his bowling and edges thru slips in the first two tests. He was injured and didn't play in the 4th test in Adelaide and then when the series was over Australia lost by 10 wickets in Perth and Ambrose and Walsh caused havoc again.

Waugh Era
P-30 W-23 L-2 D-5
Win 7 series, Lose 0 and Draw 2
Drew 2 series with 3 draws ie 3-0-0-3 against NZ in 2001-02 and 2003-04 against India 4-1-1-2. Only other loss in this era was to England in January 2003 despite Steve Waugh's great hundred. Waugh was captain in 29 tests and Gilly was captain in 3rd of 5 tests against Windies in 2000-01 5-0 whitewash.

Ponting Era
P-40 W-30 L-5 D-5
Win 12 series, Lose 2 and Draw 0
Includes the 1 test "series" v World X1 we won. Gilly was captain in 1st test of Ponting era v Sri Lanka in Darwin for a win. 2 series lost was SAF in 2008-09 3-1-2-0 and Ponting captain the first 4 tests against England in 2010-11 for 4-1-2-1, before handing over to Clarke for the 5th and final test in Sydney and that was lost and is in the Clarke era figure.

Clarke Era
P-18 W-13 L-3 D-2
Win 3 series, Lose 1 and Draw 1
Drew with NZ 2-1-1-0 in 2011-12 and lost 3-0-1-2 against SAF in 2012-13.

Totals over 4 eras and almost 25 years
P-142 W-96 L-18 D-28
Win 35 series, Lose 4 and Draw 4

SAF has won 2 series, the Windies 1 and the Poms 1

So visiting teams to Australia from November 1989 to January 2014 have won only 12.7% of tests in Oz.

Oh Eddie Dingle in light of seeing you avatar countless times I finally checked out Ween and downloaded Chocolate and Cheese and after a few listens it's really grown on me. Cool as shit album.

You do realise that you are now as cool as ****.

I once had an Inspiral Carpets t-shirt that said "Cool as F***". I would give it to you if I still had it.

Ironic tee.

I loved the madchester scene but for some reason they grated on me. I preferred the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses. Those were the days, great times maaaan, great times.

Inspiral Carpets were a bit like the Charlatans in riding the coat tails of the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays.

Wasn't a big fan of the band but I was a massive fan of the shirt. Got me a couple of birds at Flinders Uni back in the day.

I kind of remember when they got into trouble for wearing it. I think they got arrested!,

Best I got was a snarl from Adelaide and Channel 9's very own Rob Kelvin in Rundle Mall.

It pleases me to see much discussion on the American version of the football in this thread. Nice work chaps!

You wouldn't want to talk about the other other football at the minute would you?
