Funnily enough, when he started following United, most people were City supporters around him (the 1930s) as it was seen as more 'cool' to be a City supporter. So he went against the grain, and I will forever thank him for it!

I had a relief teacher who was a native blue and massive fan of Jason Van Blerk's Manchester City (Murray, 1998). He was pleasantly surprised to find all the boys had favourite teams albeit in the process of going two divisions above his, so he'd relate a few of the funnier songs he'd sung on the terraces.

I'm sure he's enjoying the unfathomable present, which was a good half-dozen parallel universes away back then.
