Ditto. And I mean absolutely precisely ditto.

Was your grandpa also a North Adelaide supporter?
NOT THE ****ING ROOSTERS **** NO.

Port Adelaide through and through, married a girl from Rosewater.

Me too.

I was the only person that knew about the loaded rifle he had hidden in his house. Now I would have to find a new one if I needed it!

Damn Japs could come anytime

My favourite part about my grandfather was that he was completely racist about anyone that wasn't white Australian...right up until he met someone that wasn't white Australian and instantly became best mates.

Oh yeah he hated the Japs, he fought in New Guinea. Again, he loved individuals when he met them decades later.

I'm an Aussie, I only buy Spaghetti because it's Australian. None of that foreign muck for me

Hando, I always wondered what happened to you! :p

Well bomberclifford is like CEO of NASA or something so
My grandpa refused to consider eating something called quiche lorraine.

He had no problems eating `egg and bacon pie', which is what it was subsequently called when served to him.

I have a similar story but replace quiche with French Toast and Egg & Bacon Pie with "Eggy Bread".
I still remember laughing at this as a 10yo.

Does your grandpa own a 1972 Gran Torino?

I might need this explained to me

Reminded me of a scene from Romper Stomper. Not exactly as Hando (Russell Crowe) was a militant skinhead and knew the cultural origins of food he was eating.

I suppose we can look at this a bit lightly these days, but I wouldn't have liked to go through what those Diggers went through...especially in the POW camps

Ah yes, I saw that movie once, many years ago....honestly, I can't remember one scene of it

My other grandfather only survived the war because he was taken POW. Though that says more about how Russians treat Ukranians than about how Nazi Germany treated its POWs.

Mine was, bought me a junior membership and all when I was young, I had to swear allegiance to the Chooks, which I did out of respect for him, until he passed away. It wasn't easy being a closet Port supporter I can tell you..swearing that Robran was the greastest, when you believed in Ebert

A historical curiosity is that I was actually staying with my grandparents on school holidays when the 1989 grand final happened. I remember nothing of what took place, possibly because I have repressed it.

My Grandfather had passed away before that event, and school was a distant memory for me, but I can relate absolutely to your situation

My Grandfather (92) is the same. Garlic...I don't eat that Italian muck. Herbs = Weeds. Pie/Braised Steak/Chips and mix of 2 veg (Brussell Sprouts/Carrot/Cabbage**/Potato Mashed, (on the odd non-chip night), Peas...rinse and repeat.

Oh and he has a total and utter obsession with his bowel movements...mans gotta have a hobby right? Prunes/Bran and some shit yourself thin powder from the chemist for breakfast, and usually a decent dose of microwaved for 12 minutes cabbage** with said pie/chips etc.

For those of a Rugby League-persuasion, has St George-Illawarra used a wildly-inappropriate lookeylikey to stand out front of the race and shout "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS?!" just before they run out yet?

Because they should.
Dragonslayers

Not the right demographic down in the Shire, some tiny blonde chick fighting for a bunch of westies that speak Leb or something like it.
Shire is Sharkland.

Hang on, hang on  Are a few people on this thread "coming out" as North Adelaide supporters

Nom we're just outing our ancestors. ;)

That said, during that period I was a Glenelg supporter, so...
