Well your first car was much cooler than my first car. I had a Ford Laser. The only plus side to this was there was a girl at school who also had a Laser and we could start each others cars with our keys.

I often see a restored EH wagon on Military Road between Semaphore and Grange with the rego number RED-202. The EH had a red motor but the 202 was still a distant nightmare.

And between Henley Beach Rd and Grange Rd there are two very clean FCs at a place on Military Rd. I learnt to drive in a then new HQ which of course had the first 202.

Well, they did come out with a 149 in them as well...a very uninspiring donk that could only just pull the skin off of a custard

First new car my parents had was a yellow HQ. No aircon and vinyl seats. Every xmas we used to drive from rads to pt augusta to visit relos. 35+ degrees with 2 kids in the back and a fat labrador drooling between us. Good times.

My favourite part about my grandfather was that he was completely racist about anyone that wasn't white Australian...right up until he met someone that wasn't white Australian and instantly became best mates.

Oh yeah he hated the Japs, he fought in New Guinea. Again, he loved individuals when he met them decades later.

My grandfather fought in New Guinea too. Suffered from bouts of malaria the rest of his life. I turned up to his house in the late 80's wearing blue and pink board shorts. He told my old man how disappointed he was that he had raised a ****. Miss him though, very funny man.

I never wore pink in the 80's...your grandad would have respected that Malaria is a bastard how it comes back to haunt it's victims. i remember my old man and his bouts after Vietnam

Young boys always loved studying the handbook in the glovebox. I loved Holdens and Fords in the Bathurst. I hated Commodores when they came, they just never were Holdens to me. When I started working on cars I came to respect Falcons more
