Weighted lotteries are a horrible idea. They don't remove the incentive for tanking (it's not as cut and dry as the current system but the incentive to finish lower is definitely still there), and it punishes teams which are just genuinely shit. Nobody would suggest that Brisbane are tanking this year, for example. Worst of both worlds IMO.
I remember suggesting a lottery a while back, but as time has gone on I've started to change my mind.
No point punishing the genuinely shit teams, and the teams that tank might get a better pick, but they don't really improve as a club.
