Anyone here a doyen in home theatre projectors/tv....

Really in a pickle over

4k vs 1080p

curbed tv vs normal

bulbs replacement vs having a fixed tv

2:35:1 ratio vs 16:9

Hearing blueray will be replaced to cater for 4k

^thats for indoors

also looking at a backyard theatre set up too....all I need is a white background to project and image eg white tile or stones yes?

Met another few Port board legends through finbarr on Saturday.

PhoenixPower and crazy_big_al good to met you fellas.

Big Al was introduced to me as Crazy-Bi-Gal which still has me chuckling.

Shame you didn't get back to the pub after the game was good fun as RussellEbertHandball will attest to.

Unless of course you were near me....

If you're not sitting directly in front of a curved TV can you actually see anything?

Been wondering about that for a while.

Yes, the curve is only minor. My gripe with these new curved TVs is that many of them don't appear to swivel.

If you put your hand in front of your face you can see that.

Unless you have severely impaired vision or you are blind then you wont see anything or not much at all.

Of your hand.

Or the TV.

4K vs 1080p - 4K is spectacular but there's no content for it and I don't see any content any time soon on the horizon. As it is few TV stations even bother to use 1080p

curved tv vs normal - curve has no great advantage as far as I can tell. What is new and cool though is the OLED technology. Real, I mean real black and vibrant colours make OLED a clear winner over LED, LCD and Plasma.

Not sure about the rest.

Cheers....

Do you have an opinion on projectors?

Do you have an opinion on projectors?

Yeah, don't buy one. We live in the era of 90" TVs.

Obviously I'm not a big fan of projectors, I think the allure is better the result.

Unless of course you're planning on giving a lot of lectures in your backyard.
