Successfully converted someone to the Pear who was generally a casual watcher of AFL, now comes to every game with me and is purchasing a membership for next year. I could tell because he started taunting my other Camries supporting friends for having a team that no-one would want to jump on the bandwagon for after they accused him of being a bandwagon hopper, lol.

Good mate coming back in a week, generally a casual North Melbourne supporter but doesn't really watch games. Going to convert him next and get a membership out of him. I've been carefully profiling my friends and finding the ones I know I can turn into supporters for life, got another mate who I intend on handing a PAFC scarf to the moment he jumps off the plane as well.

Gotta get dem membership and attendance figures up aw yeah

Suggest that any Bombers supporters would be ripe for the picking at the moment. Given all the crap they have put up with lately

Flying into Melbourne and the first thing you're struck with is how petty and small minded these ****s are. It's one of two gateway airports into the country, so you'd think they'd be all "Welcome to Australia." Nope, it's "Welcome to Melbourne...Australia."

I mean seriously? Melbourne is a dump. And before you say "It's better than Adelaide"...no shit. But they are trying to promote it as a destination city when it's no New York, Tokyo, Paris or what have you.

Guess when you've seen places like Vegas, the idea that Melbourne should be considered a place to go when all it has going for it is a transient event like sport is pretty funny.

Melbourne has made the top 10 most livable cities *in the world* regularly, and is an incredibly nice city. Yeah those other cities are incredibly cool when you are an AUSTRALIAN, but to people from other countries Melbourne is far more interesting than you think.

As for your point about Melbourne welcoming you to Melbourne. Well I think Dylan8 pointed out how insignificant that was, but I'd like to point out that when you land at Melbourne airport you are generally visiting Melbourne so of course they are going to welcome you to Melbourne.

Maybe you should go back to writing diatribe's about how shit North Melbourne are and how much we will beat them by, rather than calling one of the nicest cities in the world a "dump".
