It's true, Port Adelaide isn't a real football club, and our current resurgence is all to do with business acumen.

What a moron.

A Richmond supporter named 'dominance' doesn't know what he's talking about? I'm shocked.

In all seriousness, if you look at all the clubs in a hole, it's the ones who haven't tasted success for decades. Melbourne, Footscray, St. Kilda, Richmond. They've got an entire lost generation of intellectual property that just isn't available to them. Where are all the legends who know what it takes to win a flag and how the club was when it was successful? Crickets. Tumbleweed. Lone cough.

So they flounder around transplanting people from successful cultures who are always on a hiding to nothing when things go south. They're inevitably pitchforked and the cycle starts again.

The cycle of disappointment

What's with the 'Yes We Ken' thread that's stickied at the top of the forum? What was actually in there such that the admins felt that it should be taken down?

What the the video(?) about though? I've never seen something taken down from BigFooty before now?

A Port board poster had a fan-made t-shirt for sale (profits going to the PAFC Premiership Fund) but the guy who made it first had a whinge.

Oh I saw that on /r/afl ! It was my first though, but then I thought "who would put a copyright claim on a fan-made t-shirt".

Looked really cool actually... Shame it got taken down.

Janus has a signature #graypride t-shirt coming out soon. You will so own three of them.

Which'd be fine if he'd actually taken steps to have it made via the club, but he was clearly grandstanding (calling Janus a liar vis-a-vis his pledge to donate his cut to the club) and wanted the prestige/profit for himself.

Ok just to be clear a decision was not made based on action by the possible original producer.

There are potential legal issues around

1. The player being the owner of his image
2. The AFL being allowed to use player images and approving commercial deals
3. The club not being implicated in any commercial deals that might contravene their obligations to the AFL
4. The photographer being the owner of the picture

Moderators are not lawyers nor are administrators as far as I know. Advice is being sought as to the propriety of the content of the thread. A final decision on the thread is still to be made upon advice.

Plenty of posts and threads have been removed from BigFooty. You just haven't seen them first.

So Ford Fairlane are you saying it was the Gray shirt, and not the Ken shirt that was the issue, or both?

Advice has been sought on the content of the thread. As I said I'm not a lawyer so I won't differentiate between the items discussed.

Yeah I reckon you've got the wrong end of the stick here.

- Guy makes t-shirt for himself only, shows off, gets a bit peeved at seeing what he made sold for profit.
- Other guy sees t-shirt, rips off design, starts selling commercially on everything (not just shirts), vague claim of `profitss to the club'.

If you're looking for a morality in this, look to see which of the above sets of actions more closely models a corporation - thats the dodgy one.

Why should anyone not get a little prestige for their work, even if its not 100% their own? Someone has to do things.
