Yep, I can see how someone would think lawyers are helping keep order in society.

After cringing my way through the B&F speech by the footballer formerly known as Harry O I decided to checkout the general sentiment on the Melbourne board toward trading for him.

The top 2 threads over there at the moment:

2. "Heritier Lumumba speech at Copeland Trophy - We don't want this clown"

It must be tough being a Melbourne supporter.

Yep, I can see how someone would think lawyers are helping keep order in society.

The justice system is certainly not perfect, nor does it deliver "justice" in many cases. That doesn't mean you can put the blame on all lawyers. Remember, many of the "good" guys are lawyers, barristers, etc. These people would be frustrated with our system, probably more so then the general public.

To me, the legal system is just like sport, it is a game, the judge is the umpire, defendants council being one team and the prosecuting council is the other. The law are the rules and just like footy, they are open to interpretation by each umpire. The better players you have on your team the better results you get, if you don't come to play you get your arse handed to you.

Bottom feeders are in all levels of professions. Just many happen to have a legal degree

I dislike the notion that he's a 'deep thinker' or 'intelligent' for a footballer.

There are plenty of clever footballers past and present who have become lawyers, doctors and financial panthers - whereas Harry O sounds like a freshman arts student who watches as much Daily Show as he can.
