This is the year I truly begin to dislike xmas.
Have had a family event every night since Sunday and something planned for the next 3-4 nights too.
I'm all for family but in moderation.
I used to have discussions with Trewth about how xmas shouldn't be looked as a chore or in a negative light but turns out he was right all along.

Here's to getting drunk and being told off for saying hilarious jokes from the missus.

Told you ;)

This Christmas has me realising just how far back my genetic disposition for mental health issues go. Haha.

Get a missus and Christmas as you know it - stressfree laughs, booze, family - is over.

My little buddy Ollie the rainbow lorikeet I've had for about 5 years has suddenly come down looking extremely ill :( haven't got the funds to take him to a vet so keeping him inside in a warm cage at night hoping for the best. Will have quite a downer tomorrow if he doesn't make it.

Did anyone watch the Cyclone Tracy documentary "Blown Away" on ABC tonight?
As a survivor, I watched it with my mum, who is still living there, and it is amazing how the mind works. I have literally no memories of the period immediately after the cyclone, up until 2 months later when I started school in Adelaide. If asked, I would have said that we were evacuated the following day with an injured father via plane directly to Adelaide, and stayed at my grandparents house for a couple of weeks before resuming life as usual.
However, it turns out that we stayed in a single mens' quarters at a warehouse for two weeks after the storm, then mum and my brother and I were evacuated on a plane to Brisbane for a day, then to Melbourne and on to Adelaide afterwards, and dad stayed behind to assist in the cleanup for 2 months. I apparently did not start schooling again until the second term of 1975, and we actually lived in Broken Hill until we were reunited with dad. None of this is in my memory, but I remember nearly everything of my childhood in Darwin before the cyclone, and most of what happened in my life since returning to school (apart from my "stoner years")
Any other Tracy survivors on this board?
Anyone else with repressed memories about a traumatic experience?

Yeah I have in-laws who ended up in Adel soon after - there's very little discussion about detail, so not sure if they followed the same path (other than knowing they weren't in Broken Hill at all). People don't want to recall. I can understand why memories are repressed when you're lucky to survive, your home is totally destroyed except for the bathroom you sheltered in and then you emerge to total devastation and grisly sights - especially for children.

I think it's cute that your waiting til your kid grows up to get back into TMNT and Transformers. ...
