I’ll make tears from your Wines.
You seem to want nice simple answers to complex questions. We all want that but there are none. This is my last post on this just to address you final queries.I'll take that as a no.
No, because Christianity has for the most part put on its big boy pants and joined the modern world; something Islam is yet to do.
I'm at the very least asking which one you consider to be more important than literally billions of people believing in stupid bullshit about the nature of reality and expecting those beliefs to be relevant to public policy, yes.
More relevant to the current situation than belief systems that have been around quite literally since the dawn of man? Christianity has grown up, better tell the Irish. Joined the modern world? Better tell the Southern Pentecostals or the Westboro lot, how about the gays? Or when it comes to Christianity are we allowed to see them as a lunatic fringe but Islam are all nutters?
1. Control of resources (obviously) look at what manipulation of prices has done to Russia, something no war could have managed so effectively. Unfortunately our tactic depends on the impoverishments of large numbers of people. Something that worked fine before the Information Age as they didn't know any better
2.Israeli land - Israel is both of religious and tactical significance to the West.
3. Planning ahead - the Middle East will be the centre of the world for a long time yet (it always has been) exerting control there gives the west access to the orient.
Whether you like it or not, the terrorism these needs engenders is seen as a small enough price to pay for the benefits we in the West enjoy. The countries creating the oil wealth for us are ridiculously poor (the citizens are) and are therefore desperate and angry that they subsidise our lifestyle, whilst at the same time we bomb, maim and kill their children. The turmoil suits our agenda down to the ground.
Islamism merely serves as a point of difference in much the same way as communism and republicanism has in the past two hundred years. Where each are just a hope for control or a system of necessity.
