Probably not too far off the truth, take away some fluff and the windies do have some good talent but in my opinion, the one thing they have more of than talent is ego, they strut around the ground like superstars. Long ago they could strut around but those days are long gone.

They were to cricket as the Dutch were to football. A technically gifted powerhouse despite a relatively tiny population.

It's been said that basketball and football have taken many a heart and mind in that part of the world, hence their talent pool is now minuscule.

Isn't it lack of money for development that's the main problem? Most of the West Indies are pretty impoverished countries, as far as I know. Back in the day when no one spent much money that wasn't much of an issue, but in the last couple of decades everyone else has just pulled ahead in that regard.

You are on the right track, while they do lose some good young athletes to other sports the lack of a talent pool is a myth... no money which bleeds into shit development programs, inter-island politics yadda yadda... giant shit sandwich
