Your right, as long as the L/100km hasn't been rigged also. I wouldn't care if it emmitted an extra few grams of co2 per km.

EGR's in petrol cars cut back the Nitous oxide, as well as the catalytic converter don't know if diesels have this...haven't worked on a diesel for many years.

most modern diesels have egr valves,particulate filters and a lot now use urea or ad-blue the fancy name for it to get the emissions down

The Egr valve is one of the first things that gets blocked off or bypassed in modern diesels if you read 4wd forums. Might be good for emissions not real good for your engine.
