I found Fury Road to be a touch... Arty? Pretty good but not a "pure action" movie in my definition.
It was a try hard mess of a narrative. Effects and stunts alone are not enough for me.

Nah. Pretty straight forward. Some people escape. Some more people chase them.

TBH, I am probably more nerdy than any of you campaigners but **** me Star Wars is the most overplayed banal shit that I never want to hear about again.

Like, **** off, it was boring shit when I was 7 and it still is decades later.

Mate, I'm in Broken Hill, and after they signed an agreement to film here, they packed up and took off after pre production because there was a drop of rain and the landscape was more baby shit brown than yellow and red with no other tone. They no longer give a **** about revitalising Australia as a big budget production destination. That's a load of crap.

Except I was talking about Justice League, years before Mad Max came back in the picture.

Not giving Miller the producer's rebate was a shocking own goal by the bureaucrats. He was playing a longer game to set up a film infrastructure beyond hodge-podge funding bodies (an actual industry!) And the MEAA can always go f@%k itself for campaigning against it.

Australia being a big budget production destination pretty much relies on a shithouse $A...

How much star wars have you watched/read about?

Alien is an absolutely perfect masterpiece that transcends genre.
Maybe. but I feel like the whole "locked inside with a monster" thing has been done a million times before, and been done better than Alien plenty of times. It definitely has the best monster design and special effects.

Interestingly, The Shining was released a year later and then The Thing two years after that. Good time for horror.

Chuck in An American Werewolf in London, one of my all-time faves. Halloween, Evil Dead, Poltergeist, The Howling all around the same time. Then all the classic "video nasties," too. Jebus...

Such a shame what happened to the interceptor.

Talk about crappy aussie films with cars... anyone seen Running on Empty?

Ha! Yeah, I have. But I can't remember a damn thing about it. Except that it stars Terry Serio...

All i can remember is there was a blind guy driving a 58 chevy and stopping just in time to not drive off a cliff, also a "Monaro" getting destroyed but just before the explosion it changing to a different car.

Also a subplot about two cops that didn't lead anywhere. Ok maybe i remember quite a bit but it's still crappy. :P

Yeah, I remember it being pretty rank. Pretty good opening scene but!

Loved the old video previews. They made every movie look awesome. Even ROE...
