Unlike us fans of the real world game! Aussie Rules!!

Not sure what point is. The one known as the world game is the worst of them all.

I get that. I don't get how you think union is any different
I think there is a component of having watched and played a sport from an early age. Some sports, like AFL, are easy to adopt 'cos, let's be honest, it is the awesomest sport ever. Others you have to have grown up watching/playing to enjoy them. Both rugbies are clearly in this second category. I grew up watching and playing Union and hence I still enjoy watching it. And I guess the same applies to League fans.

Just to open another can of worms: I have American "football" in the same bag as League.

When Union is played with "continuity", rather than kick/lineout/rinse-and-repeat, the tension in that can be very entertaining and it's a bit more like the feeling you get from long passages of footy (between umpires whistles). Even games between international minnows can be entertaining in this way, the Super <however-many-it-is> series can sometimes deliver as well. Shaking your uncomprehending head at the ridiculous complexity of Union rules is also a lot of fun, how those umps pull frees out of a mass of limbs is one of the great unsolved mysteries of the Universe.

When League is played with a mix of big hits and big runs, that can be entertaining. SOO usually rises to those heights even more so than international games; regular club games usually don't.

But one of the "biases" Australians have to factor in is that we probably get to see more crap games of League than of Union. Those who like myself haven't played either game at any level are probably rating the night we had watching the event at the pub with our mates as much as the game itself, so the calibre of the commentary comes into it as well, and there the Union folks have it all over League.

Your comment on cripple fight.

Obviously you don't like rugby, which if fair enough. But they are hardly 'cripple' sports when compared to our own favourite in Aussie Rules.

Now you are starting to piss me off :)

How do you figure?

Money, crowds, international spread, Olympics, Comm Games etc.

I'm not going to start creaming over them as Aussie Rules is my clear favourite. I just think cripple was wrong from an Aussie rules perspective. From a soccer perspective I can see it.

I'm sure the makers of XXXX Gold will be delighted to know they make the best beer in Australia. :drunk:

eh?

You called the two sports cripple sports. They are richer, wider spread and internationally recognised through the Olympics. Unlike Aussie rules.
Basically in nearly every objective criteria.

Therefore to consider them crippled in comparison to Aussie rules is a bit daft....that is all.

So, you mean that soccer doesn't have Money, crowds, international spread, Olympics, etc.? o_O

Speaking of terrible but popular beer, I was told by a Lion Nathan rep about three years ago that West End Draught accounts for 1 in 5 beers sold in SA. 1 in 5!

I think that is truly amazing when you consider the 100's of options on the shelf these days.

More like saying Budweiser or Heineken will be shattered they aren't as popular as Tooheys

I'm pretty sure that's the complete opposite of what he said.

To change the subject but keep it vaguely on sport, playing NBA2K16 with the Pelicans is almost unfair. Anthony Davis is a ridiculous unstoppable freak.
I really want a 2k soccer game. 2k is leaps and bounds ahead in features and it being worthwhile to upgrade every year.

This probably has something to do with the NBA and NFL not being shit? :)

Basketball is infinitely more boring than soccer and what's up with how they play 1000 games a season. Most games don't mean shit.

The NFL is the shittest shit that ever shitted.
The trick with NFL is not to watch it live. I record games and then watch only the actual plays. It takes about 15 minutes to watch a 3 hour broadcast.
