I was writing a bullet-pointed post about the reasons everyone has armies, and we require one. However it was starting to get extremely long and I was still going to miss a billion points.
Moral of the story is, posing a question such as "why do we even need an army?" is out and out one of the silliest things you can ask. Oh gee, I dunno. Maybe 200,000 years of human conflict?
Humanitarian responses...disaster responses...conflict responses...peacekeeping. It's not as if their one role is to kill-on-sight, and there is absolutely no way you can form an army post-invasion. There has to be a standing army at all times, no exceptions. Even the most neutral countries have standing armies, such as Sweden.
Hell, they have national service requirements! Not to mention it gives 50,000+ people full-time jobs, and 200,000+ people part-time jobs.
In related news a 400m asteroid only discovered three weeks ago will miss us by a hornet's boyparts.
As far as spending against risks to the place where we live goes
there's no doubt we're doing it wrong.
On the seventh day, God ...Ive got to ask how did poo ekert originate

The irony of having a planet full of immensely destructive arms pointed out each other while an asteroid sails in unseen and smashes us to smithereens is something i feel would elicit a chuckle from Douglas Adams.
No country is going to sail a few boats and offload troops on our beaches. We all know that.So we need to know how to kill to help others? And for your other points, who the **** is going to invade us?
I will finish this with if Australia were to be invaded we would be in the middle of world war three and when the nukes are finished dropping It won't matter who had the biggest army.
No country is going to sail a few boats and offload troops on our beaches. We all know that.
But if you think having an armed forces is redundant I'd suggest you do some research into East Timor, Indonesia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. You don't even need to leave your comfy, secure home. Just do a bit of research and you'll see Australia truly is the lucky country, as there's a shitload of countries whose citizens don't have a fraction of the security and comfort we do.
The point we are all getting at is that our military is not necessarily for fighting on Australian soil. We are in the position to help out other nations.OK I understand but there are not militant groups planning on deposing our government.

So I reiterate Australians must be taught to kill in order to help other humans.
Where the **** on page 2403 did you have another post about the defence force can you please link it for me because maybe I'm going blind
Can you admit you were an idiot? You're really being an idiot right now.

So they can die a quick death? If Holden wants a solution to their money problems, put this into production.

This is one of the weirdest opinions I've ever seen on a topic, I reckon.
