Might have just had a very close call

In a desperate attempt to get decent performance in FO4 I tried to OC my old ass 920 model i7 from 2.66ghz to 3ghz (right)

But then my PC wouldnt even get to the mobo start up screen (what is this called?) before collapsing. I turned it off at the wall for 5 and tried again, managed to get it back down to 2.66 and thankfully it's restarted but I'm paranoid it's a ticking time bomb.

To answer the first question, it's called "post" or "posting". The second question, it would have done nothing to your hardware. Especially if it didn't post. Most intel processors have some sort of a pre-configured "extreme" mode which is generally a 2-300mhz increase, if you haven't done that - give that a go. It's generally stable and safe. The real problem is as stu has suggested, the problem with your RAM is that between your RAM and your graphics card, there wouldn't be enough memory to store all the shaders and what not. This is probably a big cause of the stuttering as your card and ram drops it's cache to make room for the next few frames. It's basically bursting at the seams and as a result it drops and misses frames entirely.

This is from the Gigabyte site for my mobo. Basically every RAM I'm looking at is 1666mhz. Will that work? For example this

As long it is DDR3 and the same amount of pins(don't buy laptop ram by mistake) your mainboard will recognise it. If it is, say, 1833 ram that you purchase and your board only recognises 1333, then that is what it will use. As the good Doc said Ripjaw is great ram, good heat dissipation

It is very confusing these days. I want to buy a video card for around 180-200 dollars...my word there are a lot of confusing reviews. I suppose for Fallout 4's sake an Nvidia would be the way to go, but I like Radeon. It used to be simple, the higher the number of the card, the better it was, but not now

So in doing my accounting corporate analysis assignment I thought I would take it to the next level and invest some cash into a speculative stock. I found a startup company last night had a look at their financials and what they are about and bought 10500 shares (they are super cheap).

Up 15% this morning. I'm scared.

Have you tried looking for used ones from government agencies? Should be some around, and they are sturdy as ****. Not sure where to look though.

Spec shares, especially cheap ones, are at the mercy of bot traders using algorithms that would make your hair curl. I had a share once - Empire Oil and Gas - that went from the 1.3c a share I paid for them all the way up to 4.2c on the back of bot trading...and then it went down again just as quickly.

Things like profit earnings ratios and cash flow doesn't really apply to a spec share in reality because of this fact. Just be aware of that

Continuing with the book about Australian history which I'm reading, I've just gone through a passage about bushrangers. Perhaps I shouldn't find them that interesting, but I do... westerns being one of my favourite film genres and more generally I have a thing for outlaws histories - not that I actually like what they did, obviously, I guess I just like reading/watching stuff about people who lived on the edge, and on the margins of society. I've read about Billy the Kid in the past and Brazil's greatest outlaw, Lampião. Will see if I can find any stuff on the famous bushrangers as well.
