Angus gives regular sized people misconceptions about how cool SG's look.

Hint, not that good. Stick to a Les Paul or something.

Wow, I had no idea about any of that. You certainly know your stuff!

It was in some book or an interview Trocoli did some years ago, and he was as close to the inner sanctum of that band as anyone.

I mean, the popular belief IS that it's Biscuits on the demos you posted. I just personally refuse to believe it isn't Stevenson purely through my own opinion on his style and a few things I've read all pieced together.

A friend of mine lent me Get In The Van. I'm looking forward to reading about Biscuits' time in the band. From what I understand it was somewhat chaotic.

There's some really cool clips on YouTube of early DOA with Buscuits on drums, the band in which he rose to prominence.

Love this.

I'm a massive DOA fan. Hardcore 81 is probably my favourite punk/hardcore record and that lineup just kills it.

The band that first coined the term "Hardcore" in relation to a form of music. True legends.

Here's a piece of trivia. Mike Saunders (aka Metal Mike Saunders) of the old LA punk band The Angry Samoans, is credited to have first come up with "heavy metal" as a music label in a record review he wrote for Rolling Stone in 1970 for a band called Humble Pie.

Try to get a hold of "Spraypaint the Walls". Got it for a bday a few years ago and it's pretty good. Lots of Morris, Stevenson. Doesn't overdose on HR as most black flag things do.

The Greg Ginn incarnation of Black Flag is nothing but a money making venture for Ginn (what isn't?) that I have no interest in whatsoever. Didn't he sack Ron Reyes mid show and replace him with skateboarder Mike Vallely? Bill has always been my drumming idol and Egerton is a technically better guitarist than Ginn anyway (he has Ginn's leads and general style down pat too). Chuck is just a machine. The energy from these guys and their ability to remain so tight and powerful at their age is a lesson for us all.

Greg Ginn is really a differently wired cat.

No doubt it will be something exaggerated.
I was outside memorial drive for their back in black concert years back.
The stories/fables in the paper the following day about riots were miles away from the truth.
Few issues? Yes. Riots? Not even close.

I was at that show and there was a guy near us who missed half of The Angels and all of AC/DC as he was flat out on his back out of his head.

For me The Angels slayed it that night. AC/DC were good but I had no reason to see them again after that (I had seen them with Bon Scott as well)

Yea that's like the best thing Carlos ever did
I did most of my Matriculation studying listening to (well as background music anyway) Free Form Funkifide Filth (Live with Buddy Miles) as it went for about 25 minutes. We had a pretty cool music teacher who let us study in the room if it was free.

Also had a very early synthesiser in there that we played around with a fair bit.

I've had 'My War' stuck in my head all day. It's no coincidence that I'm having a great day

I was watching an episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks the other day and they had a guy (Ronnie Thomas) appear in the Identity Parade round representing the 'Heavy Metal Kids'. As is their wont NMTB showed a clip of the band from the 70s and although I'd never heard of them I thought they sounded quite good. Must have got in on the use of the term heavy metal quite early though I think now we'd say punk of their style.

Job applications and interviews are the biggest load of crap around.

< snip >

So in short. Screw resumes. Screw dressing well and speaking well. Just know the right people. The other stuff is worth shit all.
