As someone who has maintained a lawn in Adelaide for ever if I had my time again I'd concrete the lot & paint it green.

I went with Kikuyu as well, some seedless variety sourced from a place in the riverland. Tough as nails, sometimes it grows super fast (i.e. if I over water it) and the gardener comes in and goes full scissor-hands on it and cut's it much too short in one go and I end up with a few yellow patches but other than that - Kikuyu is great.

I'm selling up soon, so I reckon I'll grab some more and lay it out the front where the grass has died off substantially. The previous owners of the house did no maintenance at all and the grass is all dead and it's a bit of a clay mud bowl, I've done some work out the front to clean it all up but haven't laid any grass yet. Will probably have to if we're selling.

Not sure if I should put down some loam with gypsum first, because the clay topsoil is hard as a rock and probably won't be conducive to growing grass.

Talking about mowing, grass, watering, top soil and selling houses. I'm graduating to boring as **** adult status.

Why would you go with Kikuyu? that grass is the bane of my existence, In winter i have to mow the back lawn twice a week and being wet it sticks to the underside of my lawnmower and is a general pain in the arse. Summer though, my back lawn dies completely that there is no point in mowing it but come autumn it grows like clockwork.

The shit it just about impossible to kill.

This is the stupidity of these people. The obvious difference is that a person eating too much , or misspelling words is at most an annoyance to other people. As opposed to a man with 2 handguns and an assault rifle can do much worse then annoy people.

I have to laugh when I see on social media a lot of people pointing out that amercan towns that have harder gun laws have very high crime still while Texas has lower crime. Ignores that there is no possible way the city checks cars trucks etc coming and going from the city next to them that has looser gun laws , and Americans have cars. Duh. Also I'm not sure why I would have to explain to an American why a city like Boston or Chicago is demographically different to a state like Texas , which by the way still has a level of gun crime you wouldn't want to accept as an OK standard.

My plan would be to put every pro soft gun law imbecile into a room with only enough guns for half of them and tell them the government is coming for their guns , lock the doors and let them thin the herd out. The world would be better for it.

Twitter is rife with the MOARGUNZ paradigm, "California should be Open Carry, it would've at least given them a chance".

The fantasy where minimally-trained citizens who pop down to a sterile gun range to shoot at paper targets every now and then suddenly have elite target identification and threat neutralisation in what amounts to an urban combat zone. In the ensuing panic no-one shoots themselves, their friends, their relatives, other innocent bystanders or even their fellow gun-toting citizens who have been misidentified as attackers - imagine being of Middle Eastern or Subcontinental descent with a gun in your hand in such a situation - oh no, it's just "tango down", bravery medals and a chat with Jimmy Kimmel the following evening.

Or they could prohibit assault rifles and other assorted military hardware from being owned by Joe Spaghettistain of suburbia?

Only maintenance I do is a bit of a water and if I see a weed I'll pluck it.

I used to have a beautiful back yard. Nice grass, ferns, a couple of small palm trees. Then I bought two dogs, and now it's a barren wasteland.

Dogs rule though so I don't care.

Haha yes - I've made mine as resilient as possible with a german shepherd and a beagle tearing up the place. Occasional hole in the grass which makes me super mad, and then the obvious "dog highway" torn through the yard which is essentially a flattened line of foliage and grass because the dogs run across that particular patch all day err'day.

I'm sure they care about a game that is mostly played at opposite times of the year and is currently suffering a massive image problem.

it goes hand in hand with the crap sport, oh they act like tough guy hero thugs overseas, lets do it here... in fairness though i didnt even know the a league had started until the clowns started this nonsense. they are just like those sanfl effwit fans holding up no afl in the sanfl banner while cheering david rodan putting their team in front late in the game. both campaigners.

Having to mow the back lawn twice a week would get very expensive in winter if i got some mob to do it, might as well do it myself. i bitch and moan about it but it get done in the end.

When looking around for houses, if I find places that have too much concrete (and quite often no lawn) out the back, it's an instant no for mine. It looks ******* awful.

Paving and rock gardens, a nice BBQ area I'd be ok with a backyard like that it's making less and less sense to have huge lawns in our climate.
