One thing is fore sure, that was the worst score music for any Star Wars by a long way. It was shit. Really really bland.

There was just as many CG characters and landscapes as the prequels, don't be fooled.
Music score seemed ok to me, but have to admit it is not something I am focussed on.

As for the cgi. Of course there were plenty, but the feel was far more real than any of the prequels. Cgi has improved no doubt, but every storm trooper looked like a real life person, moved like a real life person.

Haven't researched it, but clone wars had no real storm troopers, all were cgi, no 'suit' even existed in production. If that is the case in this film I would be very surprised.

As per Janus comments, went in without any pre conceptions, avoided the hype, speculation etc as much as I could, and came out very satisfied.

It was average. Really only there to setup the next few. Didn't feel like star wars for the reasons edgie touched on. It was predictable and literally "a new hope" with names/characters switched around.

I'm getting the vibe that the Star Wars nerds who read every spoiler and basically created the movie in their head are going to be sorely disappointed because no movie will ever be able to recreate what they have imagined as an epic tale of almost religious zealotry.
The rest of us who just enjoy being entertained by a movie will be pleased that it's worth the money we spend on it which is kind of rare for a blockbuster movie these days.

X2. It's the "film not living up to the book" syndrome. I'm glad I saw the films "A Clockwork Orange" and "The Man Who Would Be King" before I read the books or I would have been sorely disappointed. Even though those films were in parts better than the books it is still difficult to appreciate them as you have preconceived ideas from the books.
LOTR was accepted as fans had been waiting nearly 30 years since Ralph Bakshi's abortive attempt and also because one of the consultants was a known LOTR chat room expert, and was in touch with what made the books popular.

Then I will further predict that the film was targeted at today's children, where earlier films were targeted at 30 somethings who were children at the time, and that this is bad

One for the basketball fans/history buffs. Recently re-discovered in the US Library of Congress, the only known audio recording of basketball inventor James Naismith. Love his description of the first "game" lol. Recorded 1939 just a few months before his death... and found right next to the ark that Indiana Jones parked in there around the same time. From little things...

People bash every Terminator since T2 for being a rehash of T2 plotwise, but Star Wars is applauded for it?

Step 1) everyone is related
Step 2) relations confront each other in battle
Step 3) fin

Yeah the Clone Troopers were overkill but it was the only overuse of CGI in the prequels, all other uses were reasonable. There's still a shit tonne of CGI characters in this that they would've made suits for back in the OT so in that way it's no better than the prequels.
