Maybe you'll enjoy Rogue One which is coming out next year, which focuses on the rebels who managed to steal the plans for the first Death Star...or the Han Solo movie that is coming out after Episode 8. They are doing exactly what you're asking for and exploring the world outside of the mysticism of the Force.

Im looking forward to it. It'd be nice if they did branch out of the movie timeline, but if the show is quality who cares, I guess.

Between 1977 and 1989, Lucas made 7 films, I've never seen Willow, but between Indi and Star Wars, that's pretty amazing and deserves more credit.

Executive producer of Howard the Duck in 86. It has developed a cult following now but often describe as one of the worst films of all time. Willow was ok. It starred a young Val Kilmer before he got all weird and fat.

Rey I assume has been marooned on Jakku since she was very young, now if she's stuck there where did she learn to fly craft like the Falcon, so why didn't she just 'leave this party'

also if she's marooned and a scavenger , why is she investigating a Star Destroyer for goodies when the things been laying there since after Return of the Jedi , she couldn't have been there since the battle of Jakku as she's not old enough with that being 30 odd years before hand and her being early 20's?, surely that Star Destroyer has been rummaged through before hand

First one is answered in the movie.

Second, I guess it's slim pickings in a desert country. Also it looks cool to have her come out from scavanging inside Star Destroyer.

She doesn't want to leave.
There doesn't appear to be many people living on Jakku or at least in that part of the planet.
Star Destroyers are pretty ****ing big and the scrap doesn't appear to be worth much.

Seriously though, Jakku is just a case of "Desert planet that's not Tattooine because seriously that has been in like all 6 movies lets do something different"
