hey man I am a Star wars fan ....i love the old ones always will....but they were made with the premise that lucas wasnt making a dime off the movies.....he made his money off the merchandise and thats why it became kiddy......hence why episode 1-2 were arse....and 3 gained credibility

now disney has the rights....they have stayed true to the lore and story telling of it all....
What are you trying to tell me here?

If anyone got through more than half an hour of "The Ridiculous 6" on netflix you deserve a medal... Adam Sandler movies straight to netflix from now on is probably a good thing though
I saw the 5 mins.....

And turned it over to bad santa ....

Sandler really lost the plot....the best bit of that 5 minutes was actually admiring how they made the chick from twilight look hot...

Dated as in people watching them now for the first time....

Star wars fans will never see them as dated ....

And i wish i can reply to the rest of your post but I havent figured out the spoiler tag yet

No they really haven't though. They were massively ahead of their time in terms of pacing and structure and people who watch them for the first time in 2015 will love them.

Like, yes, they aren't as crisp and clean and the effects are all manual. But they haven't dated. Just like Labyrinth hasn't dated. Just like Terminator hasn't dated. Classics are classics for a reason.

For all their CGI the prequels look dated as shit. TFA went back to having a lot of on set puppets and the like which was great.

Dylan nails it above.

I know you're saying you can't explain it but I have a funny feeling that's because there's nothing to explain. Give us something to work with.

They just aren't dated, at all. They absolutely hold up.

Well...this is the only way I can explain it me personally....have watched all 6 episodes with people who havent seen a star wars movie...(as we were going together to see the new one)...out of the 6 people who watched these episodes ...ALL of them enjoyed the first 3 episodes better then 4 5 and 6....

To us star wars fans ....they are classics.....to non star wars fans....well...

I wasn't alive when Return of the Jedi came out. Phantom Menace came out when I was 13. I liked Star Wars but I was just a kid.

I wasn't some fanboy who the prequels were never going to be good enough for. I was a teenager who had no strong opinions about anything, but if I hadn't been on a date I may have walked out of Attack of the Clones. The Anakin/Padme stuff was soooo baaaddddd.

Dylan is like 14 years old. He was only just born when Phantom Menace came out, let alone the angry nerd fanboy he is today, and yet he's arguing that he far prefers the original trilogy. Your argument doesn't stack up.

I think it's time to face the facts. Your friends are ****ing idiots. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

A bit of rose coloured glasses coming up in this thread.

The dialogue in a New hope was stunted as ****.
The Obi/Vader light saber scene was laughable, now I dont expect twirly flipping flashy shit like the prequels but they were just touching their phallic like sabers against each other for a couple minutes and then Obi goes "well thats enough of this" and dies.

Also "It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs."
parsec is a distance unit not a time unit.
So it's the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 19 trillion miles ...lol Lucas.

Lightsaber fights were manifestations of what was going on in the movie and were significant to the plot. Was Luke wailing on Darth Vader at the end of Jedi good, choreography wise? Nah, but it was gripping because he lost his shit and was giving in to the dark side. Darth Vader basically toying with Luke in Empire? No triple backflips or anything, but it was brilliant because it was Luke facing Vader for the first time and there was so much tension when the lightsabers clashed.

"Classics"
"Dated"

Doesn't compute really. They definitely stand up today
Watched them for the first time a couple years ago,

First 2 were ok, 3rd one is dated as ****, couldn't get past the chase scene in the forest and the short people in costume, and it was obvious the big ball thing was going to get blown up in the end, turned it off and never went back to it.

They should have ended it there and never made another.

My friends arent f***ing idiots....they just have different opinions which you for some reason cant handle...

My argument doesnt stack up because he is a star wars fan..... I am saying star wars fans get the old triology....non star wars fans dont get it...

Me personally love the old classics but none of them gave me the feeling of episode 7....

The Ewoks are pretty lame. Sorta like a less offensive Jar Jar. But they're useful, at least.

Not liking Star Wars is fine, it's not for everyone. But you have a serious issue with your critical thinking if you're arguing that the prequels are better. All bad is fine. All good is fine. Prequels > Originals is an opinion you're going to have to explain a bit more deeply, because it's an absurd position to take. The prequels are deeply flawed films and a missed opportunity. The original trilogy are timeless classics.

Again, your argument doesn't make sense in regards to Star Wars fans and non-Star Wars fans. Dylan had all 6 movies available to him at the same time, then watched them all and became a fan because of the original trilogy because they are better films. I wasn't the die hard fan I am now when I was 13 and thought Phantom Menace was alright but it wasn't as good as the originals. You're trying to argue that the average person who had no history with Star Wars watching them for the first time would prefer the prequels to the originals because the originals have dated. That's wrong.

You still haven't explained in what way they've dated. You've just skirted around the issue and talked about people that don't even like the movies and their irrelevant opinions. Tell me why they are dated and compare and contrast with the prequel trilogy and Force Awakens.
