Education and intellect isn't always the same thing.

So no, if your education results in forming damaging, harmful, and quite frankly, wrong opinions.
I have a B. Engineering, not a Bachelor in fast food, I mean Arts, so it doesn't really help or hinder anything discussed here.

No one said it was a bad thing, but you didn't deny a university education contributed to class divide though?

I don't think Voltaire said that.

Is he the bad guy from Harry Potter ?

Can't say I've noticed personally. At work encountering clients I have those with and without and have pains in the arses of both persuasions and those who are great to work with similarly.

Alcohol is a de-inhibitor. It's not the only cause, but remove it / reduce its use (at least amongst under 25's) and there'd be a lot less violence. You can add in a disproportionate number of the dicks come from single parent and/or low socio-economic backgrounds, but I'll only whisper that as it's not PC to say it shouldn't be so easy for everyone to have kids.

Some of the absolute worst alcohol-induced behaviour I've encountered at the footy has come from Seb/Tristan/Lysander-types who believe the plum in their mouth and the school tie they're united behind allows them to take hubris-fuelled potshots at anyone and everyone they believe is beneath them.

So now education isn't a good thing? o_O

Don't deliberately misunderstand me. In everyone of my teaching classes at university (yep I studied education ) we were "warned" of the added steps that we have for children of lower socioeconomic and single parents. In my experience university creates a class divide making those from a disadvantaged background the enemy.

That mix of entitlement (thanks mummy and daddy) and top shelf liquor is as powerful a combination as West End Draft and 4 step-dads.

I always got a vibe at uni that disadvantaged groups were a hindrance that got in the way of "real" work.

Is this the equivalent of I earn over $200,000 argument?

Don't prove the point that education doesn't necessarily equal intelligence. ssh
i didn't bring up Uni being a hotbed of bias creation. When it was I simply pointed out my degree didn't have a component likely to have an effect on my world views one way or the other. I've been quite happy on here for 14 years not to bring it up unprompted.

But you did use a derogatory description about another degree making me think you are an academic snob. It just sounded arrogant. You don't need to demean others to make yourself appear better

People holding different degrees have made light hearted fun of each other's since degrees started. It's getting harder and harder for anyone to use humour here :( it's the degree equivalent of bantering with fans of other football teams.

It's cool man, I went to uni to meet girls and avoid getting a job. I'm sorry that others can't see the beauty of the arts degree. :)

I'd agree with you if you were joking with a particular person but anyway do and say what you want. It just reminded me of the I earn more than you or do you know who my father is? statements.

Yeah well Arts degrees students were more visually appealing then those in Engineering. You bastard (in a non-gender specific way).:p

As long as your father isn't Vader it's all good.

Engineering is bliss when comparing to Computer Science!!!! The Uni SA levels campus very quickly dampened by expectations in year 1 Orientation week (day 1) that I was not going to have fun on campus
