When footy players wore knickerbockers .....

Not the 1890s, the 1986 EF between Fitzroy and Essendon. Michael Reeves.

I would dress every RPG character I've ever played like this if I could

He had to wear them for extra padding as he was highly susceptible to bruising, I think.

It's cool that they he had what seem to be custom made shorts with extended stripes, instead of just something under regular shorts.

Martin Leslie's pullover with the 134 prisonbars replete with weird custom wetsuity shoulder thingy. #ermmmeighties

The game I've seen him in (as I said earlier the 1986 EF between Fitzroy and Essendon) was on Foxtel the other day and I recorded it so am watching it now. Reeves is taking enough hits as a KPD that if the pants are padded because he's susceptible to bruising he should have really gone for a full Spiderman suit. But yeah they are cool. Should have gone full 1890s and had a peaked cap too.

I'm trying to imagine the scene of a ball-up and all the players are scrambling to pick up their dislodged caps.

In my imagination capless players would not be entitled to touch the ball.

Everytime Adam Gilchrist talks about how great BBL crowds are I feel like sticking a fork in his eye, feel the same about Warner when he does his ******* cringeworthy jump after every ton.

Then just stop watching cricket. Players have trademark celebrations, even our number 1 has one.

Was the 1st time I ever had stewed quinces. Not to everybody's taste but yum to me.
Don't see quinces that often now, pity really. Maybe their future lies in a hipster led fad.
Homemade ice cream wasn't uncommon in those days.

We had a quince tree growing up. My mum had to explain what they were to countless people

Back in the 60's my mum used to make quince jelly. I loved the stuff on fresh bread. I hadn't seen quinces for decades except as Maggie Beer's Quince Paste until a few years back when the became trendy.
