I can go back to the early 50's when amscol icecream came enclosed in a cardboard brick about the size of half a loaf of bread, in the 60's the packaging changed to another cardboard container not dissimilar in size to a tissue box, but not as high.
None of those namby pamby plastic containers for us baby boomers. ;)

My grandma used to cut the icecream in slices, and served with home made fruit salad, sliced peaches, or nectarines it was absolutely deliciosa. :)
That was of course well before my taste buds were damaged by the occasional frothy.

Eskimo Pies.

So there's a Big Bash League soundtrack CD and it has two Chris Brown songs on it.

Huh.
You could have stopped after the first 8 words and I would have been baffled

Eskimo effing Pies !!!
I have run the phrase Eskimo Pies through various translators and apparently it is a phrase used in the eastern suburbs. At Rowley Park in the day we ate Choc Ices.

Back in the 60's my mum used to make quince jelly. I loved the stuff on fresh bread. I hadn't seen quinces for decades except as Maggie Beer's Quince Paste until a few years back when the became trendy.
My maternal grandparents had a quince tree. They lived on a farm on the Eyre Peninsula at that time (I don't even remember where). Surrounded by steel jaw rabbit traps, it was a gruesome sight in the mornings which is almost certainly why I remember it.

I was at Rowley Park and we ate dust and fumes. In the eastern suburbs we indeed ate Eskimo Pies. But we were special.
