Sigh
Typical Adelaide sporting team

Can't beleive i wasted my night coming here

No one really cares that much.
I've never been to the Big Bash but I'm certain I'd forget which colour my city's team was after two beers

The SACA really plays the Adelaide public on a break, don't they? Create a good all-round team that 'dominates' because all the other teams are reliant on star power for their success, but when it comes to finals they will inevitably choke because it's that very star power that will win big matches.

The North Melbourne of cricket. But hey, they get to fill their coffers up with the money from these clowns.

Glad these fools lost, and everyone who attended went home disappointed. Chalk up another 40,000 people who will never go to a Strikers game again.

48,500 they'll be back next year unless there's something else to do. It's a night out for the kids fairly cheap everyone's on the same side and it's a great venue.

Get these soulless franchise supporters out of our home ground

No-one's emotionally invested in tonight's result beyond betting, surely?

The Adelaide Strikers make the Adelaide Crows look like FC Barcelona.

Wish I'd thought of that. Would have put $100 on the Strikers to lose. Weight of expectation + humid, uncomfortable conditions = easy money.

lol, the media was like ADELAIDE OVAL CROWD RECORD SET TO BE BLITZED BY STRIKERS FINAL

Nah.

Game, Set, and Match Mr Hewitt. Well played. Enjoy the coaching career and maybe seniors circuit games and maybe even the odd Grand Slam doubles game in your 40's like Newk, Stolle etc.
I was thinking of the 1981 US Open, when Newk at 37 and Fred Stolle at 43 took McEnroe and Fleming to a 5th set tie breaker in the semi final. I though Newk was about 40 and Stolle about 47. McEnroe and Flemming won the final in a walk over as Peter McNamara and his Swiss partner pulled out of final because of injury. I remember watching that final on a Saturday morning, it was a great game, the last 2 sets were tie breakers. Newk and Stollie came back from 0-2 sets down. Newk made sure McEnroe didnt get away with any of his BS and Stolle just stayed at the back of the court as Newk spoke his BS back to McEnroe. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_US_Open_–_Men's_Doubles

They played 1982 and got knocked out in 2nd round and in 1983 and got knocked out in 1st round. So we could be seeing Hewitt playing doubles for another 5 or 6 years if he decides to follow Newk and co. Newk and Tony Roche used to play Wimbledon doubles together after they retired as singles players, and 1983 was their last year, at 39 and 38 respectively.

This is the real reason they'll be back:

Short memories.

Its a cheap night out for the family and like going to the theatre, festival or the fringe.

As my cricket mate would say - where are all you people when Shield games are on? they aren't worried about the game as much as the night out.

They will get 45,000 again next year for all home games after Christmas and if they host a semi final again.
